Historia
He is Deucalion, a tattooed man of mysterious origin, a sleight-of-reality artist who has traveled the centuries with a secret worse than death. He arrives in New Orleans as a serial killer stalks the streets, a killer who carefully selects his victims for the humanity that is missing in himself. Deucalion's path will lead him to cool, tough police detective Carson O'Connor and her devoted partner, Michael Maddison, who are tracking the slayer but will soon discover signs of something far more terrifying: an entire race of killers who are much more - and less - than human.

This is just... bad
Revisado: 05-21-21
The synopsis sold me on the idea and I spend my credit and happily downloaded it. This was the last time I felt joy when it came to this story. The characters were cliched. The backgrounds were boring. And just when I started to lose myself for a moment the writer would say something so incredibly stupid it yanked me out again.
The narrator seemed to feel the same apathy towards the work based on his dry, even read. His voice is the verbal equivalent of milk, dry toast and plain yogurt. Nothing special or noteworthy.
I wanted to power through it based on the synopsis, it sounded amazing! And if an actual writer had had the idea, this would've been a great tale. As it stands it's just a monument to boredom and apathy.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

This was awful.
Like... I listened for hours in disbelief wondering when the quality of writing would turn at least tolerable and it never happened.
The characters are so cookie cutter that it makes it painful to listen to the cliched dialog.

Historia
Legion Dark Ops calls upon Chhun, Wraith, and the survivors of Victory Company to form an elite Kill Team of legionnaires in the aftermath of the Battle of Kublar. Their mission is clear: find and eliminate those responsible for the Kublar disaster. Standing between them and their objective are a maze of corrupt Republic officials, a spy on the verge of losing himself in deep cover, and the Zhee - a murderous species that will stop at nothing. But the biggest threat of all might be the truth they seek to uncover - a truth that could ignite a revolution. And engulf the galaxy in flames.

Great Follow Up
Revisado: 09-16-20
The narrator R.C. Bray continues to wow me with his fantastic range. I could probably tolerate a terrible book if it was read by that man.
Amazing follow up to Galaxies Edge and it feels like the writers are starting to get their legs on the story. Got a bit of a Star Wars flavor at the back of my throat, but that's not at a point against it. Will most definitely listen to this over and over again.

AMAZING!
Revisado: 09-16-20
Loved it!
From start to finish it was a great listen, the narrator was on point and did his best to vary his tone from character to character so you always knew who was who even in the heat of the action.
Characters all seemed to be a well known archetypes but within the scope of the story, it didn't ruin it. in fact, I just realized it as I wrote this.
Tactical sci-fi isn't something I thought I'd enjoy, but here I am.

Every disaster brings an opportunity. Goth Sullus and his empire have fallen. With the Legion and the rest of the galaxy watching from the still-smoldering galactic core, Carter, a former legionnaire turned private contractor, and Jack Bowie, a Navy spy with nowhere left to turn, sign up to work for an enterprising private contractor looking to make a statement on the planet Kublar. Plans are in motion dating back to the Savage Wars, and as the galaxy rushes to fill in the vacuum created by the fall of the Imperial Republic, the bodies are hitting the floor.

Killed The Series

I absolutely loved this series until this offering.
The narrator particularly was awful and the new characters bland and one dimensional. I've tried on multiple occasions to finish it, but it just drags.

Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

A Dark Journey
Revisado: 06-07-15
If you could sum up Metro 2033 in three words, what would they be?
Dark as Hell
Which character – as performed by Rupert Degas – was your favorite?
He did a superb job with all of them, so it's difficult to choose just one.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely.
Any additional comments?
Philosophy, action, and sci-fi wrapped up in a nice Russian flavored wrapper. You really feel the heaviness throughout Artyom's journey. The world feels lived in and abused. The flow is pitch perfect and the narrator does a FANTASIC job of giving each character a personality of their own. I literally can't say enough good things about this audio book.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

A Meta Eff Up
Revisado: 06-07-15
If you could sum up Redshirts in three words, what would they be?
Star Trek Riff
If you’ve listened to books by John Scalzi before, how does this one compare?
'The Andriod's Dream' was flawless, and this could have been the same except for the codas at the end that just messed up both the flow and feel of the book. If they'd been redacted and say, more meat added to the middle of the story, I would've loved this book.
Any additional comments?
Seriously. Those codas at the end suck.

Historia
In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

Make me
Revisado: 06-01-15
What made the experience of listening to Mogworld the most enjoyable?
Yangtze Croshaw's performance was breathtaking. A wide scope of accents and voices. At no point was i ever uncertain which character was speaking. He kept the pace of the book and I never felt out of sync with the story.
What did you like best about this story?
Unique idea executed almost perfectly. I do have to begrudgingly ding the man for a star because he makes the new author mistake of repeating certain phrases enough for the reader or listener to catch onto it.
What about Yahtzee Croshaw’s performance did you like?
All of it.

Revisado: 06-01-15
If you could sum up The Android's Dream in three words, what would they be?
I don't like this game Audible.
Any additional comments?
Solid story, damn entertaining, and laugh out loud funny (at points). Any complains I have are level at Double W, the narrator. He's good at keeping the pacing and emotion strong, but I would've liked wider array of voices. I found myself wondering who was talking from time to time.
