There are so many better books on the topic of building a successful business that are more topical and applicable. Built To Last feels like what it is, a 23 year old business book written by professors with no business experience.

Historia
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

primitive power theory
Revisado: 09-29-20
The concepts in this book feel primitive and outdated. It is a little shocking that The Art of War continues to receive the praise it does especially considering the vast amount of revised modern thought regarding the topic. The main concepts are basic and regressive at this point in the human endeavour.

I thought it was a solid outline of the process and skills needed for most standard entrepreneurs. My only complaint is some of the anecdotal stories felt a bit disingenuous and designed more to establish his points.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Historia
At the close of the twentieth century, corporate capitalism extended its reach over the globe. While its defenders argue that globalization is the only way forward for modern, democratic societies, the spread of this system is failing to meet even the most basic needs of billions of individuals around the world. Moreover, the entrenchment of this free market system is undermining the foundations of healthy societies, caring communities, and personal wellbeing.

I cannot recommend more. The author does an incredible job of establishing the clear need for new economic models and lays out a compelling argument that the long history and durability of cooperatives may hold the key to solving a broad range of complicated socioeconomic problems. The work is well researched and honest in its approach.

Historia
In A World of Three Zeros, Yunus describes the new civilization emerging from the economic experiments his work has helped to inspire. He explains how global companies like McCain, Renault, Essilor, and Danone got involved with this new economic model through their own social action groups, describes the ingenious new financial tools now funding social businesses, and sketches the legal and regulatory changes needed to jumpstart the next wave of socially driven innovations.

Revisado: 04-02-20
The book presents a great intermediary idea between our existing unsustainable way of operating economically and a richer more vibrant future socioeconomic theory. Three Zeros left me optimistic that we can bridge our current cycles of inequality effectively enough to buy time to discover new ideas.

Revisado: 03-17-20
I mostly enjoyed the book, but the message is more one of creating a potential revolution as opposed to a cooperative. Matt does a great job introducing the topic of coop's but then gets lost in the digital counter culture getting bogged down in the more revolutionary aspects of cooperatives. Humanizing The Economy has a richer description of coops and the their post www history and I would recommend Humanizing The Economy first and Everything for Everyone if you have a fascination with the digital side of cooperatives (open source software, blockchain, digital management tools).

Historia
"It doesn't take an Einstein to understand modern physics," says Professor Wolfson at the outset of these 24 lectures on what may be the most important subjects in the universe: relativity and quantum physics. Both have reputations for complexity. But the basic ideas behind them are, in fact, simple and comprehensible by anyone. These dynamic and illuminating lectures begin with a brief overview of theories of physical reality starting with Aristotle and culminating in Newtonian or "classical" physics.

Historia
You are reading the word now right now. But what does that mean? What makes the ephemeral moment "now" so special? Its enigmatic character has bedeviled philosophers, priests, and modern-day physicists from Augustine to Einstein and beyond. Einstein showed that the flow of time is affected by both velocity and gravity, yet he despaired at his failure to explain the meaning of now. Equally puzzling: Why does time flow? Some physicists have given up trying to understand and call the flow of time an illusion.

Solid information, questionable conclusion.
Revisado: 01-31-17
Muller covers an enormous range of physics in Time and builds a compelling case that time is much more complicated than an assertion of entropy. At times his work appears to be brilliant even if his final conclusion seems clumbsy. He firmly established, in my mind, that Time, as a subject deserves much more thought and study as it seems our understanding of it is rudimentary at best.
