Historia
Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Working as a nanny for the world’s grumpiest single dad should have been simple. Except I can’t keep my eyes off him. And he can’t keep his hands off of me. Cade Eaton is 13 years older than I am and barely looks my way. Until I get him into the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. Then all bets are off—and so are our clothes. He’s gruff, a little rough around the edges. But broad-shouldered ranchers with calloused hands and filthy mouths are this city girl’s kryptonite. So who am I to resist?

I have to start this review by mentioning that I’m a mood reader, so I approached this book with a specific desire for it’s vibes. However, when I picked it back up a few days later, I found myself not in the right mindset for it 😂 Despite that, I still consider it a good read. you're in search of something simple yet engaging, with a touch of spice, this book will hit the spot. It's particularly ideal for fans of the single grumpy dad trope, set against the charming backdrop of a small town, and features an age-gap romance that adds an intriguing dynamic.

Didn't love the female narrator
Revisado: 01-09-25
This marks my very first buddy read of the year with my book bestie, Yvonne, and what an experience it was! The book turned out to be nothing short of epic, and I can completely understand why it has garnered so much hype. While I don't think it stands as the greatest book I've ever encountered, that opinion could very well be influenced by the lingering book hangover I’m experiencing from a tale I found even more captivating.
I can see why readers are swooning over Kingfisher; he truly is a standout character and definitely deserves recognition as a top-tier book boyfriend. For this read, I chose the audiobook format, but I have to admit that the female narrator didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Her voice, unfortunately, grated on my nerves a bit throughout the experience, which was a tad distracting.
Even with that minor setback, I genuinely enjoyed this story from beginning to end. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout, completely absorbed in the action, with never a dull moment to be found. I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next book in the series!

I have never been favored by the gods. Far from it, thanks to Zeus. Living as a cursed office clerk for the Order of Thieves, I just keep my head down and hope the capricious beings who rule from Olympus won’t notice me. Not an easy feat, given San Francisco is Zeus 17 patron city, but I make do. I survive. Until the night I tangle with a different god. The worst god. Hades. For the first time ever, the ruthless, mercurial King of the Underworld has entered the Crucible—the deadly contest the gods hold to determine a new ruler to sit on the throne of Olympus.

This book is an absolute masterpiece! It’s filled with thrilling twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I found myself completely absorbed in the story, unable to tear my eyes away from the pages. As someone who loves Greek mythology, this book exceeded all my expectations. The characters are vividly portrayed, and the plot is beautifully woven, making it an incredibly engaging read. I’m already eagerly anticipating the release of the next installment! If you enjoy engaging tales filled with mythology and adventure, I definitely recommend picking up a copy of this book. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Revisado: 01-01-25
There's something about a cozy mystery that always puts me in a good mood, and this one was no exception. As soon as I discovered it was part of my Audible subscription, I couldn't wait to dive in. The added bonus of it being a Christmas-themed cozy mystery made it even more appealing. The story was a delightful blend of charm and intrigue, capturing the essence of a cozy read perfectly. It delivered everything I was hoping for—warmth, a sprinkle of suspense, and a heartwarming atmosphere. I’m excited to continue this charming cozy series!

Most schools are about being the best. This school? It's about being the worst. Calder Academy is where the rogue paranormals go. The ones who break the rules or lose control. And when that happens for vamps, werewolves, witches, and dark fae? It gets pretty freaking scary. I should know. Because I'm trapped here.

Can't wait for the next book!
Revisado: 12-29-24
Having thoroughly enjoyed the Crave series by Tracy Wolff, I was eagerly anticipating the chance to dive into this new series. Overall, this book was a solid read, and I’m definitely intrigued enough to continue with the series. However, I found that it didn't quite capture my heart in the same way that Crave did. While the story had its merits, I initially struggled to connect with the characters, which made it harder to become fully invested.
Fortunately, the second half of the book took a turn for the better, ultimately boosting my impression and leading me to revise my initial rating from 3 🌟 to 4 🌟. I have a strong hunch that the upcoming second installment will only get better, and I can't wait for its release!

DNF
Revisado: 12-21-24
I read this book with a friend, and unfortunately, we had to DNF. Initially, I was intrigued and engaged, but as we progressed, the pacing of the story began to drag on, and it felt overwhelmingly slow. One of my main issues was with the main character, Kat; she's introduced as a fierce and cunning thief, yet when she finds herself in court, her demeanor completely shifts. Suddenly, she transforms into a timid and frightened woman, which just didn't sit right with me 🤷🏼♄17︄17 It felt inconsistent with the character we were introduced to. Despite my best efforts to push through and enjoy the story, I ultimately found myself struggling to stay engaged.

This book just didn’t resonate with me
Revisado: 12-18-24
I had to DNF this book, which really bummed me out because I was genuinely excited to dive into it. From the very first couple of chapters, I found myself rolling my eyes. Despite my best efforts to push through the pages, I realized that I was simply not enjoying the experience. This year, I’ve made it a point to value my reading time more, opting to focus on stories that bring me joy and engagement—especially with my ever-growing TBR pile looming over me like a mountain of unread treasure✄17 Ultimately, this book just didn’t resonate with me, and that’s perfectly alright! Not every story is meant for every reader, and I’m learning to embrace that.

The best holiday read I've encountered this season 🤯
Revisado: 12-15-24
I absolutely devoured this book! It was exactly what I needed after wading through a sea of disappointing Christmas romances this year, which I’ve come to realize might not be my cup of tea 😂 When I stumbled upon this title on someone's holiday thriller TBR, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’m genuinely thrilled that I did. This book was nothing short of remarkable! I found myself completely engrossed from the very first page.
The atmosphere was so eerie and haunting, and I loved every moment of the suspense it created. The inclusion of the Krampus was chilling—absolutely spine-tingling! I opted for the audiobook version, and the narrator was phenomenal, adding a rich layer of enjoyment to the experience. The tense moments throughout had my heart racing, and I must admit, I was completely blindsided by that unexpected twist! I definitely recommend this book; it's easily the best holiday read I've encountered this season.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book 💫
Revisado: 12-15-24
I have a deep appreciation for Danielle Garrett's work, which is why I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Her writing style captivates me; it's warm, engaging, and distinctly charming, making her one of the best authors in the cozy mystery genre. I often find myself revisiting her novels, as they never fail to bring me joy. One of the things I adore most is how her stories unfold within the same magical universe, creating a sense of familiarity and connection among the characters.
In this particular book, I was thrilled to see the main character, Blair, staying with two of my favorites, Holly and Adam. Their dynamic adds a delightful layer to the story as Blair navigates her journey of self-discovery and magical exploration. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries that weave together enchanting narratives and beloved characters, I definitely recommend giving this book a try—actually, any of Danielle Garrett's books are worth picking up!
