Twists & turns are ok but this book had far too many implausible events. But I did finish.

That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Historia
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol in attempts to overturn the presidential election. It was a betrayal of our Constitution, and one of the darkest days in recent history. Yet to former congressman Adam Kinzinger it was also the culmination of a cultural and political rupture he’d long seen coming. Constructive criticism from within the Republican Party was no longer enough. It was time to stand up, even if it meant betraying his own party.

Historia
The story of the American West is the story of a relentless quest for a precious resource: water. It is a tale of rivers diverted and dammed, of political corruptions and intrigue, of billion-dollar battles over water rights, of ecologic and economic disaster. In Cadillac Desert, Marc Reisner writes of the earliest settlers, lured by the promise of paradise, and of the ruthless tactics employed by Los Angeles politicians and business interests to ensure the city's growth. He documents the bitter rivalry between two government giants to transform the West.

Important Book
Revisado: 09-12-23
This is an important book when coming to an understanding of how we got where we are with water in the West. A tremendous amount of detail is presented. Unfortunately, this is a problem when trying to absorb so much information in an audio book format. I believe book format would be a better way to process so much information.

Great Lakes Mystery
Revisado: 04-08-23
I grew up on the shore of Lake Michigan so stories about the Great Lakes get my attention. There is a lot that is implausible in the story but I engaged my willful suspension of disbelief and enjoyed the experience. Especially enjoyed the descriptive writing about Lake Huron. Scott Brick could read the phone book and make it interesting. Worth your credit.

Not Her Best Work
Revisado: 03-23-23
I enjoyed The Last Thing He told Me. Laura Dave discusses the cost of doing the right thing, never mind the cost. I could relate to the struggles of the characters. Not so with London Is The Best City In America. It dealt with issues relating to truthfulness and the difficulty of understanding the course events in your life are taking you, while on the fly. The issues were covered and covered and covered but probably better handled in a short story.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.
