Historia
Emigration of people from Sicily often overshadows the importance of the people who immigrated to the island through the centuries. These have included several who became Sicily's rulers, along with Jews, Ligurians, and Albanians. Greeks, Romans, Vandals, Goths, Byzantines, Muslims, Normans, Hohenstaufens, Spaniards, Bourbons, the Savoy Kingdom of Italy and the modern era have all held sway, and left lasting influences on the island's culture and architecture.

Highly informative and one of the best narrations I experienced.
Revisado: 03-09-17
Very detailed and well researched. The narrator did a great job. It's a long read (listen) but I was always eager to get back to it. I'll listen to it again. Wish I had this book prior to my trip to Sicily two years ago. I'll certainly listen to it again before my next visit. What an interesting country. Tragic in many ways. The book gave me a much richer understanding of "my people" -- their history, trials, and psyche.

Historia
From the author of the national best seller Chaos comes an outstanding biography of one of the most dazzling and flamboyant scientists of the 20th century that "not only paints a highly attractive portrait of Feynman but also . . . makes for a stimulating adventure in the annals of science." ( The New York Times).

A wonderful glimpse into a remarkable man
Revisado: 01-23-17
If there was a stronger word than "genius", Richard Feynman would surely be worthy of it. The book is remarkably narrated and remarkably informative -- about science, about a life, and about the human spirit. I wish I had known Richard Feynman. James Gleick thankfully has helped me see just how much I've missed by never having had that opportunity. Well done Mr Gleick.

Historia
There have been many books - on a large and small scale - about Steve Jobs, one of the most famous CEOs in history. But this book is different from all the others. Becoming Steve Jobs takes on and breaks down the existing myth and stereotypes about Steve Jobs. The conventional, one-dimensional view of Jobs is that he was half genius, half jerk from youth, an irascible and selfish leader who slighted friends and family alike.

My wife and I took this journey into Steve's life and enriched ours along the way. What a privilege to have lived in the same era as this man ...thank you Steve!!

Historia
John Wells has just barely managed to stop an operation designed to drive the United States and Iran into war, but the instigator himself disappeared behind an impenetrable wall of security. Now it's time for him to pay, and Wells has made it his personal mission. There are plenty of crosscurrents at work, though. The White House doesn't want anybody stirring the pot; his old CIA bosses have their own agendas; and other countries are starting to sniff around, sensing something unusual.
