Historia
What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Life Changing! But....
Revisado: 07-11-18
I gave this book five stars because I loved it. Looking back, I may end up dividing my life into the period before and the period after I read it. It is the best "self help" book I've ever read by leaps and bounds. However, I don't agreed with all of it. Peterson's description of what believing in God means is so vague it strikes me as meaningless. As I am a self described non-believer, I didn't really appreciate Peterson telling me I didn't exist more than once throughout the book. Peterson's interpretations of the Bible were thrillingly novel to me and I now see the true psychological utility of religion. The last of my militant atheism fell away while listening. I do think he went too far in imposing his theism on the reader however. All in all, I think any young person who cares about the truth and who wants be and do good in the world should read this book.

Historia
How can we make intelligent decisions about our increasingly technology-driven lives if we don’t understand the difference between the myths of pseudoscience and the testable hypotheses of science? Pulitzer Prize-winning author and distinguished astronomer Carl Sagan argues that scientific thinking is critical not only to the pursuit of truth but to the very well-being of our democratic institutions.

If, 1000 years from now, this book is the only surviving record of human existence, I will not be content. I will be dead. However, if I were paradoxically still alive, I would be content.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

I was in a bad car wreck when I was about halfway through this book. I could have been killed. It helped the parts about embracing your own mortality in perspective. Excellent book.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Brian Tracy knows this firsthand. He didn’t graduate from high school, and after working for a few years as a laborer, he realized he had limited skills and a limited future. But through the power of self-discipline, he changed his life.

This book has influenced me greatly. I deeply admire the author. No Excuses covers everything from climbing the corporate ladder to parenting advice. I firmly believe that if everyone followed the advice in this book to a T, the world would be a much, much better place.
