I Expected Better

So I am a fan of Bruce Sentar, especially after his series Saving Super Villans, Dungeon Diving, and Dragon Justice. However, this series felt off to me. At first, I couldn't tell what it was in the first book but then it clicked for me in this book. It's rushed. The whole thing feels rushed, from the MC getting all his girls to the progress he makes.

The MC is swift to get multiple female companions compared to his counterparts in the other series Saving Super Villians, Dungeon Diving, and Dragon Justice where the MC in them was about 1 per book. In this, it is about 3 per book. That he has a physical relationship with and he has already married 3 of them.

Then with him making these massive jumps in power after doing a little cultivation (I'll add that these are often time skips from a part of day to multiple weeks) he is already ready for the next task.

Honestly, this series is not for me and I am a bit disappointed with it even though Bruce Sentar is a damn good author.

Really Boring and Bland

So I thought this was going to be a good book and I can tell you right now it isn't or at least not for me.

It just felt like everyone is one-dimensional and I mean everyone from the MC to the Griffins to the background characters. Like here they are and here is what they are supposed to be. There was no depth behind them.

It felt like there was no passion behind the scenes... it just felt like someone was reading the book not acting it out or even attempting to act it out. It was just bland.

The Griffins also sounded incredibly small and no smarter than a loyal animal. Griffins at least in mythology were huge and often fought dragons in one-to-one combat over territory. They were supposedly incredibly smart creatures. Again the Griffins sounded more like loyal animals, not super smart creatures.

Even the sex scenes weren't arousing, it was just like "OK we are having sex now." It was bland and awkward to listen to.

The whole thing was pretty terrible from the writing to the acting. The only thing I could say it was a good concept just horribly executed.

Great Story Bad Acting

So I read the book and was looking forward to the audio. However, when I listened to it.... it just didn't feel right to have one narrator for the story, I felt like there should have been two different narrators male and female. It just didn't sound right and the characters didn't sound right. Like with Pola I feel like she should have been more whinny and high pitched in comparison to her sister who should have sounded more sophisticated. Honestly, across the board none of the characters sounded right.

Easily Forgettable

So I did listen to this to this all the way through even though it was a bit of a struggle. It wasn't fantastic but wasn't terrible. It just easily forgettable.

Perfect Start

So I got to say this was a damn near perfect start to a series. I personally like the whole concept of Lycanthrope being a spell or ability not just some random disease that spreads and I do like she can control her shift and not just lose control and shifts while angry.

I don't know the path the author has planned out for her and her friend with their friendship but I clearly see there is going to be some friction with her and the other girl who looks to have eyes for he friend.

The one thing that threw me though it sounded like Lycanthrope could mean shifters on the whole in this book with multiple different types of shifting abilities. I am not sure if that is what they are referring to or if I just misunderstood what the author was going for.

Cool Concept but Executed Poorly

So I am not sure if it's me or if it's just the writing style but I just find this book to not be great. It had a really cool concept but I don't think it was executed nicely. Maybe because it just felt a little rushed and just kind of crashed into the next thing.

A Truly Overdone Male Fantasy

I have listened to and have read a lot of male fantasy so I have been around the block with multiple types from Scifi to Fantasy, from Current World to Alternative Worlds, the main protagonist has no powers to them being OP, etc... I have to say though this one was pretty bad for my taste. For it being a Slice of Life style it really didn't feel like that in multiple instances, since Slice of Life is supposed to be more of a real-life simulation of a mundane life however, this feels more like eroticism where it's nothing but sexy times all around. The male protagonist feels more like a meathead thinking of nothing else besides sex and breeding. Even the so-called mundane tasks he completes seem to be tinged with sexual tension. So I found that I was less excited about the whole experience after only a couple of chapters from when I first read the synopsis. So I find myself putting this book down and shoving it in a corner to forget.

TLDR: It's not a Slice of Life Harem and more of a story about a man constantly stuck in the thought process of sex and breeding.

Good Story Terrible Cuts

So I liked the first book a lot so I purchased the second book right away. However, what I thought was a mistake in the first book I know see it's going to be a chronic thing. They just do smash cuts between different points in time without any pretext. When I first heard the terrible smash cut in this book I had to back up to see if I missed an audio cue since I was at work, I sadly didn't.

Other than that the story is pretty good. All the typical tropes in a harem.

Great Start but Bad Ending

So I listened to this a bit ago and liked the story in the beginning and thought I knew which direction it would be going, and even thought there will be a second book the way it was written. However, as we got closer to the end I found it to highly disappointing since the book sound like it's going to be the only book from how the story did an abrupt turn in a different direction with the story and the ending ended up feeling rushed.

EEEEEHHHHHHH! It's okay.

So I listened to this because I like stories about fantasy creatures. However, I feel like the main characters back story is pretty similar to how the main character in The Alpha written by Eric Vall. Other than that the story seems to be a bit different like how they shift and the general world but I feel like it will be heading in the same direction as The Alpha story wise just not on as big of scale. I might get the second book but I am not going to rush to get it.
