Made Me Get The Great Courses tbh

I've been thinking about getting The Great Courses for a while because I have a lot of hobbies I want to learn and SO MUCH OF EVERYTHING I want to learn too, and seeing this free lecture just clinched it for me. Engaging, thought provoking, and easily accessible to people like me who are casual learners but also appreciate thorough teaching. Will definitely be listening to this again.

and i legitimately wouldve tossed this entire series if I hadnt already bought the 2nd book and preordered the 3rd. im gonna go scream later. narrator was fantastic but her accent was a little difficult to understand sometimes (Im USA if that helps any) and I had to turn down my usual 1.5 speed to 1.20 and rewind frequently in order to both understand the narrator and keep up with the plot. Although the story itself feels quite slow, Muir very often doesnt clarify valuable points, which for a reader who likes putting things together would be awesome but as a listen who occassionally struggled to understand the narrator, it was a but of a fight. still liked it a lot tho

Story is Awesome, with some caveats

The performance was great, the story compelling, and the throwbacks to old folk tales and nursery rhymes nostalgic. It's diverse and engaging, without being overbearing.

that said, there is a repetiveness to the author's writing style that is more than a little exhausting. by hour 10 i was kind of done with it, but powered through it because I liked the rest of it so much.

10000000% sure this is my favorite book of the year. I'm going to buy a hardback and cherish it. I'm going to sleep with this under my pillow for a week. I'm going to bed dreaming of purple. Love it.

Mulan if Mulan was 3 toddlers in a trench coat

if i could give this book a 10/5 stars (as in double the amount of stars, I know how fractions work) then I would but I cant so Ill settle for telling you instead. Prachett's humor is top notch the entire time and I actually laughed while listening to this, a happy rarity. The acting was great, the themes were great, the lessons and stories beautifully intertwined to give you both food for thought and a great time.

Did Not Finish, so incredibly exhausting

I originally got this for the Jake Gyllenhaal read, which i mightve liked if i hadnt already trudged halfway through the first story. which really was a trudge. i skipped most of it, wanted to scream, tried the second story, decided not to finish after that. if oscar bait was a literature genre, this would be oscar bait. dead dads EVERYWHERE.

i LOVED the romance and detective drama balance and the quick turn around of it all, but that bwing said, the nsfw moments kinda made me wish i couldve had an abridged version available. Still cute tho, will be grabbing the next book.
