Save your time Less informative more Politically biased
Revisado: 02-29-24
Save your time. To sum this up the Author is of the opinion that there are some bad people in this world who find and use the legal avenues in the US to maintain their privacy and use ill-gotten gains to buy assets that protect their ill-gotten wealth. Therefore we need way more government oversight and regulations that will effect all people by allowing the government to know everything about you and everything you're involved in, financial, real estate, personal possessions, everything! You have no right to privacy because it could be bad and if you do want privacy you're probably bad.....
Oh, and Orange Man = Bad, Capitalism = Bad, Privacy = Bad, Communism = Good, Joe Biden = Awesome/Not a criminal, Democrats/Liberals/Bernie Sanders = Hero's.

Historia
When Kentucky blueblood Drew Thornton parachuted to his death in September 1985 - carrying thousands in cash and 150 pounds of cocaine - the gruesome end of his startling life blew open a scandal that reached to the most secret circles of the US government. The story of Thornton and “The Company” he served, and the lone heroic fight of State Policeman Ralph Ross against an international web of corruption, is one of the most portentous tales of the 20th century.

Historia
The unforgiving Afghan winter settled upon the 22 men of Marine Special Operations Team 8222, call sign Dagger 22, in the remote and hostile river valley of Bala Murghab, Afghanistan. The Taliban fighters in the region would have liked nothing more than to once again go dormant and rest until the new spring fighting season began. No chance of that - this winter would be different.

Decent Story

Decent story, but the narrator's reading style and mannerisms were annoying. Other than that it was pretty good.

Very well thought out and written analysis. You can logical follow his analysis to the conclusion. Considering was written about ten years ago, I think China is a bigger threat than Russia and will continue to be. Well worth the time.

Code-named the Studies and Observations Group, SOG was the most secret elite US military unit to serve in the Vietnam War - so secret that its very existence was denied by the government.

Well written and narrated. Those men were incredible, and deserve far more respect and honor than this nation gave them. They were some of America's best.

Historia
On his second combat tour, Nick Brokhausen served in Recon Team Habu, CCN. This unit was part of MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observations Group), or Studies and Observations Group as it was innocuously called. The small recon companies that were the center of its activities conducted some of the most dangerous missions of the war, infiltrating areas controlled by the North Vietnamese in Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The companies never exceeded more than 30 Americans, yet they were the best source for the enemy's disposition.

Historia
In one of the most compelling combat narratives ever written, Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, an Army infantry platoon leader in Iraq, gives a teeth-rattling, first-hand account of 11 straight days of heavy house-to-house fighting during the climactic second battle of Fallujah. His actions in the firefight, which included killing five insurgents in hand-to-hand combat, earned Bellavia the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and New York state's highest military honor, the Conspicuous Service Cross.

Interesting and Frustrating
Revisado: 09-22-20
Overall I enjoyed it. It flowed well and gave the reader good perspective of the individuals involved. The seemingly inept ability of high command to effectively assist the guys on the ground was very frustrating, but I'm Monday morning quarterbacking. It's understandable based on this why large conventional forces suffer at the hands of small flexible guerrillas that are less equipped.
One pet peeve was with the narrator's attempt to incorporate different accents or speech mannerisms into the story. I have listened to several books narrated by this narrator, and enjoyed them, but it bugged me on this one.

Historia
Raw, straightforward, and powerful, Ed Kugler's account of his two years as a Marine scout-sniper in Vietnam vividly captures his experiences there - the good, the bad, and the ugly. After enlisting in the Marines at 17, then being wounded in Santo Domingo during the Dominican crisis, Kugler arrived in Vietnam in early 1966. As a new sniper with the 4th Marines, Kugler picked up bush skills while attached to 3d Force Recon Company, and then joined the grunts.

I wasn't sure about this book right off the bat, I think mostly because of these narrator's mannerisms but they grew on me and I ended up enjoying it.
