Our lives can be crazy, but you can take a break from it all with Wondery’s new series, Even the Rich, where co-hosts Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams pull back the curtain and chat about someone else’s craziness for a change. They tell stories about some of the greatest family dynasties in history, from the Murdochs to the Royals to the Carters (Jay-Z and Beyoncé, that is). Because as Queen Elizabeth once said, “A good gossip is a wonderful tonic.”

There’s nothing worse than living next door to your childhood nemesis, except maybe being forced to share your dream project with him, being blackmailed into going along with something that was just wrong on so many levels, and having your hot cocoa stolen by the person that drove you to drink it in the first place. As long as she has plenty of hot cocoa, a pair of pliers on hand and is able to resist Connor O’Neil’s bad boy charm then Rory James should be able to make it through this project with her sanity intact.

Definitely a different relationship leading to a HEA. I liked the narrator, and the lead relationship. Could have had less of the random brothers and cousins throughout the story though.

I didn’t know Raphael Amado when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution for an old debt. My grandfather knew him well, though, and he quickly conceded. That restitution? Me. Six months later, Raphael came to claim me. He took me from my home, taking me to his Tuscan estate, where from the crumbling chapel to the destroyed vineyard to that dark cellar, the past stalked him like a shadow. Even the walls held secrets here, and I’d need to uncover them all to survive.

Awful on every level
Revisado: 12-29-22
The narrator is ridiculous and overly emotive with stupid things. The first story Sophia is an immature, inexperienced child and every sexual encounter feels gross and abusive. Were she a 35 year woman, that would not be the case. I didn't get to books two or three because this was just garbage without even a true romance in the background or a minimally sexy narrative.

I just couldn't get interested 8n this book at all. I tried, but one hour of the slow, almost forced narration was all I could stomach.

I was hoping for information and details about these sleazeballs and their associates. However, the long winded and incessant details about third layer bit players is driving me nuts. I am on episode 4 and I think I'm done.

Best of the series so far
Revisado: 05-22-21
I'm very much enjoying this series of books. It feels like an honest tribute to and continuation of the Firefly show. season two that we were cheated out of.
This one is the best of the bunch so far. Giving us a glimpse of what might have been in a different universe for the crew. The action was good, the humor consistent and the characters behaving in the ways we know they should.

Unfiltered. Unapologetic. Older, but not wiser, Lancaster goes back to basics in this hilarious essay collection about everything from taking community policing classes to accidentally getting high with her waiter after a fancy dinner. These are the tales she'd tell if she met you in a bar... if she weren't too lazy to put on pants and go to a bar. Offering advice ranging from how to remain happily married to a man who refuses to blow his damn nose already to not creating An Incident at the cheese counter during an attempt at Whole30, she's you, only louder.

Missing that old zest
Revisado: 10-22-20
I'm a fan of Jen and I pre-order each book on Audible, so I am obviously comfortable with her style in general. She's quite relatable to us Gen X women who have little patience for nonsense, but endless time for animals.
Unfortunately, Stories I'll Tell In Bars felt forced and like it was reaching and not quite getting there. The Italy trip story dragged and there were hints of the earlier bitey humor, but in a weird, obligatory way. Like trying to be funny vs natural flow creating raucous silliness.
I'm not giving up on Lancaster at all, Fletch and the dogs are far more interesting than most junk on TV. Let's just hope Jen finds her groove again

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

New aliens, new conflicts, great world building
Revisado: 10-22-20
Honestly, the Audible versions of the Bobiverse are superior to reading these books. The narrator is spectacular and gives life to every Bob from BOB, to Garfield to Bill to the Skippys. Plus, the Audible version means i can continue to enjoy the book even if im driving. And thus far, every book in this series has kept me entertained and wanting to continue the story throughout the day.
Heaven's River is easily my second favorite - just behind the first book. The world is changing both inside and outside of the Bobs' control and bubbles. That means the storylines have multiple places to extend and expand. I just hooe the author loves the Bobiverse as much as we do and carries on.
The tale will be indecipherable if you have not read the first three books. There's no revisiting the past for newcomers here. I love that some ideas and habits are staying like the cat, silly puns, Jeeves and the Moot. Yet there are divisions amongst the Bobs and conflicts arising as well as new species and the Heaven's River world is fascinating. As always, any Bobiverse book is an automatic preorder for me.

lots of unnecessary drama.
Revisado: 04-29-20
I want to love this book and there are several things here that are very good, but it wasn't entirely put together. I have Audible audio version and the two narrators did a great job - love Ms Whelan. The overall plot is gripping and the disappearance of all the living creatures on Earth was handled in a new way. Not your typical plague, zombies or alien attack.
My issue is unnecessary and repetitive critical mistakes and manufactured drama as the story progresses. It felt like the author was trying to stretch book one to justify a trilogy. There are a few plot holes that can be ignored for the most part and I'm willing to use a credit on book two. I want to see where things go, but I hope the second part is more put together.
