Historia
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Amazing Read!
Revisado: 01-22-25
I spent the better half of 2024 reading Romantasy to the point where I am good on that genre for the next 5 years—at least! However, I LOVE fantasy and I was so discouraged that I couldn’t find anything that jumped out at me. Until I came across this book. It had been the most enjoyable read since I discovered Joe Abercrombie. I will be counting the days until the next book in the series is released. Do not hesitate on this book. It was incredible.

After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals. Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training.

Never been so close to DNF
Revisado: 01-13-25
Absolutely LOVED the first two books of this series. However, this book was barely above a copy/paste of Cass and Poppy. The redundancy with the parallels of characters from other series was annoying and took away any authenticity that ANY characters had. What became unbearable was the CONSTANT guilt/self-blame fest/bickering between Sera and Ash. “It’s my fault! No it’s my fault! I am a bad person. No it’s ME! I am a bad person! I should have done this. If I had done/hadn’t done that one thing, all would be different.” I am so disappointed with this book. I was so ready for it to be over and I will not continue the series. Because I read the series backwards (by accident), i already know (generally) how things will transpire with these characters. I no longer give a fig about the details that lead to what eventually becomes Penellaphe’s series. If you have read the Blood and Ash series prior to this one, I would say that the first two of this series was enough to get by but I can’t guarantee that because I will not be reading the book following this one. I am writing this review with 15 minutes left of the book and the conclusion stays true to the overall redundancy of the book. I am SO over it.

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

“Peaced out” really?!
Revisado: 11-20-24
Everything was great. Story delivered, very pleased. However, I noticed throughout the story that modern slang was sprinkled throughout. This is a fantasy story. It is meant to transport you to another place and time. Those visions are completely 💩 on when you include things such as “he peaced out as soon as you spoke her name.” Like…why was that necessary? Again, other than that, great story.

Getting slowly better
Revisado: 05-29-24
Stick to it. The plot is sloooow as molasses to thicken BUT it seems like it will be worth the wait. Everything begins tying together towards the end of this book. I was so over it until the last 10 chapters and then bought the next book in the series before this book was finished because I couldn’t wait to see where Celaena’s journey would bring me.
UPDATE: I just finished the final book and omfggggg it is SO good!! 😭🤌🏼 stick with it! Absolutely worth it!

Just waiting for it to get better and then it ended
Revisado: 05-24-24
I loved ACOTAR and figured I would enjoy this series as well but so far, 1.5 books in, I am really struggling to enjoy these books. Celaena annoys the absolute heck out of me, worse than Feyre did. But where there were other characters to fall in love with in the ACOTAR series, the characters in this storyline lack depth, intrigue and are tediously predictable. Despite all of this, I refuse to quit and hope that the hype lives up to itself. Onto book 2…
UPDATE! I just finished the final book in the series and OMFGGGGgggg it is SO good! Stick with this series! SJM never disappoints ❤️😍

PG version of ACOTAR
Revisado: 05-16-24
I have read the entire ACOTAR series. Feyre grated on my nerves at times. Celaena does as well. It’s the whole “I’m not like other girls” shtick that grows tedious after a while. Arobynn reminds me of Tamlin and that whole toxic situationship. Sam is the Diet Coke version of Rhysand. Also, I don’t understand the redundancy of reiterating things that happened in great detail at later points in the book AFTER the events happened…and was already described in great detail to begin with. We knew what happened between Celaena and Ansel or what occurred with Rolfe at Skull’s Bay. I could not understand why the same information was repeated later on in the book as if it was a recap from a previous book instead of 50 pages back. Despite not entirely enjoying this book, my faith in Maas runs eternal and I know she will hook me eventually. If nothing else, I am hoping to see if Yrene (the healer) resurfaces in the series.
UPDATE: I just finished the final book in the series and OMFGGGGggggg it is incredible!!! Don’t give up on this series. It is one of SJM’s best. Dare I say, better than ACOTOR. It’s true! 🙂↕️ There are giant spiders, witches AND big badass flying beasts— on top of everything else! 😍 SO good! 🤌🏼

And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Best out of the series
Revisado: 05-12-24
Absolutely loved the narrator. She is the best by far. This book was my favorite out of the series. Unpopular and unsolicited opinion but Feyre became tedious at times in the previous books. However, the narrators chosen for the other books in the series were not that great either so…yea. Anyway, Nesta and Cassian’s POV were great. The character development was exceptional. I hope other character’s POVs are written in the future.

Unpopular opinion but 👎🏽
Revisado: 10-22-23
If I took a shot of vodka every time Sanderson wrote “she flushed,” or “she ground her teeth,” I would be sloshed by the end of chapter 1. I felt that the character interaction was unrealistic, simpering at times, just overall cheesy. So far, I’ve read the first Mistborn Trilogy, this book and The Emporer’s Soul. Tell me why the short story was the best so far? I am trying really hard to like these books due to the positive ratings from readers but I am struggling. I have finished each of his books so far sincerely underwhelmed and I consider myself to be easily entertained. I am now reading The Way of Kings. I hope this knocks my socks off. Otherwise I will cry real tears.
