Historia
This definitive audio collection, read by Stacy Keach, traces the development and maturation of Hemingway's distinct and revolutionary storytelling style - from the plain bald language of his first story to his mastery of seamless prose that contained a spare, eloquent pathos, as well as a sense of expansive solitude. These stories showcase the singular talent of a master, the most important American writer of the 20th century.

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

the old pigs and the modern pigs have a lot I common. in fact, I'd say the only difference is that the modern ones have better tools for suppression, coercion, and slaughter.

An exceptional battle of wit
Revisado: 11-06-22
Following in the heels of our last outing with Cameron Winter, this story is a deeper look into him and his he became the man he is, along side a trail of logical inferences that reveal so much more.
I can't wait for the next one.
there were a few moments where the audio was doubled. not sure what could be causing that, but it was distracting.

Now, in yet another virtuosic performance, the actor proves that despite being separated by a span of over a century, his connection to the author and his work is undeniable and that theirs is a timeless collaboration that should not be missed.

Twain's isekai
Revisado: 10-02-22
a tale as old as time, I woke up one day and found myself in another world. if the second word in the title means anything to you, then you know the drill. instead of your typical Japanese high-school boy going to a primitive world and getting magical powers, you have a 30ish Connecticut man going from 1900 to 500 and bringing all his manufacturing knowledge with him. An excellent for the isekai fan.

Finding one's self in the art of war
Revisado: 09-14-22
After losing everything and accomplishing the mission, James Reese has to figure out how to keep living. As it turns out, he's got a lot more of that to do than he knows. This is typical sequel book with all the trappings of that in terminal list flavor. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one.

Slow burn sci-fi political thriller
Revisado: 09-14-22
This is game of thrones, without the sex and in space, both of which are bonus points in my books. It starts slow and I still hate 'space words' with every fiber of my being, but after about the fourth chapter, I was really into the political drama. Over all, it's very good.

Man versus Democrat
Revisado: 09-02-22
I find the most fantastical element of this story the one where somebody gives these politicians what's coming to them.
On a less political note, the story itself does everything it means to with no bullshit and in short order. the narrator killed it, the accents were believable, and nothing felt out of place.
10/10, will buy Carr's other books.

Historia
Mixing a bit of seventeenth-century French history with a great deal of invention, Alexandre Dumas tells the tale of young D'Artagnan and his musketeer comrades, Porthos, Athos, and Aramis. Together they fight to foil the schemes of the brilliant, dangerous Cardinal Richelieu, who pretends to support the king while plotting to advance his own power. Bursting with swirling swordplay, swooning romance, and unforgettable figures.

A classic for a reason
Revisado: 08-19-22
It is hard to believe that so many movies were made from this book, while all of them pretty much followed the same formula of cutting out the entire second half. While it's easy to see how the book could have been shortened by cutting words all over that are totally superfluous, how the entire intrigue with Milady is never present could only be the result of making the story more "PG" for audiences. It takes what is a tragedy at its heart an turns it to something much more palatable for general audiences. I grew up watching the movies of this and love them then, but now that I've read the book, my tragic sense of humor favors the full story more.
