Historia
January 1946: Two WACs leave an officers' club in Munich, and four Soviet NKGB agents kidnap them at knifepoint in the parking lot and shove them in the back of an ambulance. That is the agents' first mistake, and their last. One of the WACs, a blond woman improbably named Claudette Colbert, works for the new Directorate of Central Intelligence, and three of the men end up dead and the fourth wounded.

Ties to previous characters and the OSS.
Revisado: 05-19-20
First off, this is the first time I listened to a book that Alexander Cendese narrated and I look forward to more of his work. He does a remarkable job of accents and distinguishing the different characters. Regarding the characters, there were way too many and it was hard to keep track who was who and some had little input on developing the story. Just downloaded Death at Nuremberg and can't wait for a driving trip to listen to it.

Historia
October 1945: The Germans and Japanese have surrendered. For Cletus Frade and his colleagues in the OSS, it should be time to pack up - but they have far more important things to do. Chief among them is the protection of their assets, especially the human ones. In the closing months of the war, the United States made a secret deal with the head of German intelligence’s Soviet section. In exchange for a treasure trove of intelligence - in particular the identity of the Soviet spies in the U.S. atomic bomb program - his people would be spirited to safety in Argentina.

Dropped the ball in the end.
Revisado: 04-02-19
Things went along just fine and toward the end, details were left out as if they were in a hurry to finish the book. Biggest disappointment was things were left hanging so you don't know if they rounded up the missing Nazis, married off Jimmy and Martin recovered and Peron was made president. Needs another book to complete the series.
On the other hand, Scott Brick is superior in creating vocal identities. Way to go Scott!

Historia
Jack Ryan is dealing with an aggressive challenge from the Chinese government. Pawns are being moved around a global chessboard: an attack on an oil platform in Africa, a terrorist strike on an American destroyer, and a storm-tossed American spy ship that may fall into Chinese hands. It seems that President Zhao is determined to limit Ryan's choices in the upcoming G20 negotiations. But there are hints that there's even more going on behind the scenes.

Not one of his better books
Revisado: 03-14-18
The storyline was hard to follow and keep your attention. Too many characters and too many associations, a real who’s who in the overall plot and I’m not quite sure which was the main plot. Assassination of the Chinese President, The US President or both and blame it on the US? Skip this one.

If I hadn't known that Vince Flynn had past, I would have thought it was another of his Mitch Rapp novels. You can thank the narrator for most of that seamless transition as George Guidall turned in another superb vocal presentation. Now I'm waiting for the next character to take over the colorful character Stan Hurly.

Historia
Korea, June 1, 1950. Captain Ken McCoy's report on probable North Korean hostilities meets with so much bureaucratic displeasure that not only is it promptly suppressed, but McCoy himself is kicked out of the Corps. At least two outfits, however, are not impressed by such infighting: the fledgling CIA, which promptly hires McCoy; and the North Koreans, who on June 25th invade across the 38th parallel.

Revisado: 06-08-15
At first I thought we were going to lose the main character, Ken McCoy; however, he was rescued at the last minute by his former WWII boss. From there, it's back to familiar grounds and political/military intrigue.
Another good read by Dick Hill and I'm now going to start book 10.

Desperate to find someone to unite the battling interests of General Douglas MacArthur, Admiral Chester Nimitz, and OSS Chief "Wild Bill" Donovan, President Franklin D. Roosevelt puts Fleming Pickering in charge of the OSS’s Pacific operations. Immediately, two urgent missions fall into his lap: to contact and rescue a band of former American servicemen and their dependents on the run from the Japanese in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia; and at the same time, to set up a weather station in the Gobi to help direct planned aerial attacks against Japan.

As the story moves on a lot of "loose ends" came together. I absolutely loved the "ass chewing" that Pick got. Dick Hill did a magnificent job of delivering it.

Revisado: 05-30-15
Just when I think I see where the storyline is going, it takes a turn in another direction. This type of story telling mixing fact with fiction also teaches you about history.
Dick hill is superb at character definition with his skillful ability to form pictures in your mind of the characters he defines so well with his voice. Anxious to start the next book in the series.
