I was excited enough at the thought of a new book in this series that I ignored the reviews. As a New Zealander I wondered if it was just that people were unfamiliar with mine and the Australian accent. Alas, no, the accents are all wrong, unnatural, apart from moments when the narrator slips into her own native accent. Isn't it fasinating how a narrator can blur the quality of the writing ....I did not enjoy this book and will return it.
How you are missed Stephanie Daniel.

Historia
No picture ever came more beautiful than Raphael's Pandora. Discovered by a dashing young lieutenant, Raymond Kelvedon, in a Normandy chateau in 1944, she had cast her spell over his family - all artists and dealers - for 50 years. Hanging in a turret of their lovely Cotswold house, Pandora witnessed Raymond's tempestuous wife, Galena, both entertaining a string of lovers and giving birth to her four children: Jupiter, Alizarin, Jonathan and superbrat Sienna. Then an exquisite stranger rolls up, claiming to be a long-lost daughter of the family, setting the three Belvedon brothers at each other's throats.

ok, my friends are 'too cool for school' in that they are horrified at my J.Cooper addiction.... how can you swing from S.Sontag one minute to Cooper the next.... easy, not only is she an atidote to today's P.C propoganda she is a wonderful story teller and describer of animals and nature. Jilly Cooper is adorable.

Historia
'The Library Window' is a ghost story. A young girl, visiting her aunt in Scotland, finds herself increasingly intrigued by a mysterious window in the house opposite her own favourite window, where she sits to read. There seems to be a local mystery about the window, including a dispute about whether there is even a window there at all. Increasingly this doubt seems odd to the girl as the days go by, as she can see into the room opposite and make out furniture and objects there. Then one day she sees someone in that room....

I returned this book after the first two sentences.... because of the narrators unbearable habit of torturing the end of each sentiences final word. How I appreciate Audible's return policy. I am desperate to read Oliphant.... having learnt about her though listening to the exquisite book The Mother Reader.
