Monotonous and toxic

This book is so slow even he narrator is bored. She speaks robotically and with out emotion, until suddenly she’s snide and evilly pithy. Then robotic again.
The characters are thirsty, pathetic, selfish, abusive, emotional immature, toxic and intentionally cruel at times.
The only plot twist seems to be how low the characters are willing to slide on the ethics scale.

Lovely book. It’s nice to have happy endings, and this book lets everyone be happy. I’m this book, a woman decides what she wants, a man decides what he wants, and we get what we want. We get to watch a lovely journey with humor and teasing as they get their way.

Good plot, needs an edit.

Even if you over look a fairly unlikable female lead, and a fairly silly cast, this book is in need of edits. Conversations are repeated, everyone acting as if it’s the first time they had it, and often the author forgets who is at a particular event in the book. The plot was good, and reworked with a good editor I believe the book would be fabulous. I just find a 10 minute hiatus during a knife fight To look for doors and hold a conversation is silly, and the number of times the main character jumps to conclusions but finds support by everyone as if it’s very logical is not very realistic. She’s very faithless and judgmental for someone with that many flaws.

She is ruthless, so there’s that, but she’s also nasty, childish, mean, unethical and a harpy. Perfect match for the rude, unethical, pouty, emotionally abusive bully that is her ‘love’. I don’t think there’s a likable character in the group. There are 2-3 with basic ethics but they are not likable either. It’s all made worse by both narrators thinking that everyone should sound like heavy smokers after a 5 pack night, or gargoyles crunching gravel. The sex scenes are nearly soft porn, but not imaginative or enticing, just long and full of 1970 Harlequin verbiage. Usually if I don’t like a book I just pass but it was awful enough I’d like to warn you. Hey, but if you do like heavy sex scenes with crazy women and bullies, read to you by a demon who had his throat cut.. this is your book. Dive right in.
Not really my thing though.

A story of class, idolatry, and loss. Redemption, naivety, and God’s promises. It’s a good plot, though the end seems rushed. The narrator does a great job. I’ve found a new author.

If the narrator didn’t make Bones sound like a girl, and we could remove the story by Vicki Petterson.. it would be a wonderful book.

She’s back.

Kim Harrison is back with nearly the entire Hollows in tow for another fight for city dominance and a few mystery turns. Gather a cup and some chocolate, or maybe just some cherry tomatoes, and enter the Cincy Hollows for more of the saga.

By chapter 5 she came off as overly touchy and out of control of herself and her emotions. He came off as a bully and close to a rapist. Not much further in I gave up.

I usually love Lori Foster. This was a disappointment.

I’m shocked that this was written by A Quick. I’m read her under more than one name, and in several genre.
This genre seems to be middle school romance.
The only thing more disappointing is the narration. The only positive there is that she is literate.
I’m very disappointed.

Fluffy Filler & Flirty Fun

This is not going to ever be used as a philosophy textbook and that ok. Sometimes being entertained is all we should require from a book.
The author builds a world that we can recognize and is still unique enough that we feel we are visiting not residents. The characters appear straightforward and obvious but hint at depths we haven’t seen yet, occasionally letting us glimpse behind the curtain hiding their true selves. It’s a coming of age story about a late bloomer who finds out she lives in a more interesting world than she thought.. and that helps her fit in better than she ever thought she could.
It’s fun, cute, and I enjoyed it.
There is innuendo, but nothing keeping it from being shareable. No strong language.
Better than I expected as I have been disappointed by the last 3 authors that were unknown to me. This one was worth the plunge!
