Historia
In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial even proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world. Meanwhile, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger.

Absolon "Solon" Stavig isn't your average criminal though. He's a centuries-old vampire who's caught between wanting to kill Lenore and wanting to save her.

The fact that I am not the target audience but became invested in the character says another for the writer.

First person narratives are not my favorite. I would have liked to know why Lenora was loved... what was loveable about her?

A step back from the first book
Revisado: 01-31-23
The story shown to us is less interesting than the one told to us. The narrator spent too much time world building and trying to make unrelatable characters relatable. The cat and mouse game was interesting but under developed. Characters we loved in part one were missing except for a few meaningless scenes. I think the writer missed an opportunity to show a really good story.

the second and third books are very nice. The first not as nice. I would have liked to see the dragon king learn his final lesson differently

3rd person omniscient and present tense narration presented some problems. The writer is very talented using good language and descriptions. He paints a nice image of the world he created. The story is missing something.

Historia
Richard Wright's powerful and eloquent memoir of his journey from innocence to experience in the Jim Crow South. At once an unashamed confession and a profound indictment, Black Boy is a poignant record of struggle and endurance - a seminal literary work that illuminates our own time. The once controversial, now classic American autobiography measures the brutality and rawness of the Jim Crow South against the sheer desperate will it took to survive as a Black boy. Seventy-five years later, his words continue to reverberate.

The reader did an excellent job differentiating each character. Wright's view of himself is interesting compared to how he was viewed by others. This story related an important narrative about human relationships in America and how the concept of American realities shape them.

Revisado: 08-09-20
I knew all along that the DNC was an organization on snakes. I knew the election was fixed when HRC had no real candidates running against her. Sanders was independent and should have remained independent. Joining the DNC was a bonehaed move. This book was very enlightening.
