I really this story. It was surprisingly in tune with women for it to be written by 2 men. LOVE the performance and reading! I’d give her 10 stars if I could.

A true tragedy worth learning about. I think the best and worst thing about this book were all the details. It makes for impressive investigative journalism, but as a listener I found it to be a bit much at times. Still definitely worth the listen.

LOVE this book series!

Not my normal genre, but since joining my first D&D game as an adult, this has really brought things to life! It’s unique with twists and turns and endless possibilities. Not to mention the great characters and AMAZING narration. Can’t wait to start book 3!

Painful

I really wanted to like it, but it was terrible. If the narrator wasn’t destroying an almost mildly enjoyable story with her monotone, flat read, the author was torturing me with novice, unimaginative, predictable, one dimensional lines. And to top it off, what I think was supposed to be the climax of the entire story was one singular line that was barely a whisper.. then on to a completely different random issue. I really wish they hadn’t been too scared to tell a real story that may have made the listener feel something.

Very enjoyable

The premise of this story didn’t seem too appealing, not my normal genre, but thought I’d give a chance. Once I started listening though, this became a very enjoyable, binge-able listen. The different accents are done seamlessly by the narrator, and the details paint character interactions in a way that brought me fully into with the scenes with no effort at all. The only thing this book had me longing for at the end was for the Epii app to be real! That thing sounds awesome.

Trigger Warnings

This seems like a book right up my alley - murder mystery, suspense, complex story line with a lot of moving pieces. And Brittany Presley is one of my favorite narrators! But what I was unprepared for was the intensely graphic scenes of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, sexual assault and intimidation, devastating medical abusive during a birth, and overly descriptive images of decomposed bodies. Not to mention the cringe worthy murders and child-on-child abuse.
While I appreciate a descriptive story helping the listener to feel in the presence of the characters, as a person with trauma in my past I look for those trigger warnings to help protect my well-being, as many people do.
I wanted to hear how it ended so I found myself forwarding through the needless gory details of the second half of the book, having picked up on the authors habits. It’s not a terrible book, and if you have absolutely no trauma history then it may be more enjoyable. But I will definitely not be listening again nor am I able to recommend it to others.

I’ve never heard a story quite like this. Many layers to the storyline plus the addition of the secondary storyline unfolding in parallel. Definitely worth the short listen

From the Legendary guests you have to the array of advertisements. You have me laughing so hard sometimes I’ve had to stop listening at the grocery store.. I was scaring people. I freakin love this lady! She’s hilarious, smart, and straightforward. Where was this book when I was 18 and my girl logic was running amok?! Definitely keeping it for my daughter for when she’s a little older and needs a fresh perspective on self and the world around her.
