Historia
Thousands of years ago, Earth's terraforming program took to the stars. On the world they called Nod, scientists discovered alien life - but it was their mission to overwrite it with the memory of Earth. Then humanity's great empire fell, and the program's decisions were lost to time. Aeons later, humanity and its new spider allies detected fragmentary radio signals between the stars. They dispatched an exploration vessel, hoping to find cousins from old Earth. But those ancient terraformers woke something on Nod better left undisturbed. And it's been waiting for them.

Great story, awful character names.
Revisado: 03-28-24
Enjoyed the story and the narrator did a great job overall. That being said I don't know if it was the names the author gave the terraforming crew or the way the narrator pronounced the names, but I had the hardest time differentiating between those characters. Maybe it was a mix of too many characters and not being able to read the names myself, but I had the hardest time knowing which character was being talked about when dealing with the terraforming crew. It felt like their names were too similar and for me their names were not normal human names I have ever heard of before. Thankfully they weren't the whole book, but I have never had this problem before and I've listened to many audiobooks.

Prince Gaborn, the Earth King, has defeated the forces arrayed against him each time before: the magical and human forces marshaled by Raj Ahten, who seeks immortality at any cost and has given up his humanity in trade; and the inhuman, innumerable, insectile hordes of the giant Reavers from under the Earth, whose unknowable motives are inimical to human life.

Finally a book that moves at a decent pace.
Revisado: 12-11-22
I had loved the series and the story that was happening, but I had a hard time and even stopped and put the audiobook down after the second book because of the incredibly slooooow pace the author moved the story along. I felt barely any story would happen and all the words were being used to overly describe something that was overall irrelevant and unimportant. Finally in this book we get action that happens regularly and the book progresses normally. I wish all three books were more like this one.

Story gets so weird, but happy the series is clean
Revisado: 07-17-22
Such a change from the original, Enders Game. Absolutely none of the books have been as great and continue to stray from what made that one great. This series has gotten crazier and crazier each book and honestly I now regret spending all these credits on the series. I listened to the series in chronological order and was pretty turned off by the bean stuff, but kept telling myself the good parts were worth the bad. But the author pretty much continued to discredit everything Ender did and give credit to Bean. When the ender timeline continued again I was reinvigorated but shouldn't have been. I was excited Ender was back, but the Author continued trying to lessen and minimize Ender as a character. Ender was the main character of the first book but since then the Author has cared less about him and tries at every opportunity to bring in other characters that you are supposed to care about, but don't. Also iv had about enough with the incredibly long internal monologues and absolutely pointless arguments between characters that do zero to progress the story and end up getting changed in the next chapter because of finally a progression in the story. Also the incredible detail into side characters is ridiculous. It just gives more opportunity for pointless and ridiculous conversations that do nothing for the plot. I'm pretty sure the in's and outs of the story could be told in a fourth of the time. This has been a thing since Enders Game, but has been getting worse and worse. Not sure if the author used all his good story progression in enders game and didn't have much material left, but it's certainly lacking.
Overall I'm probably being more critical than I need to be, but it was an utter struggle getting through this book and had to force myself to finish.
I did really enjoy hearing some of the authors thoughts and backstory to each book told by himself after each reading. I wish more authors did that with their audiobooks.

Historia
Xenocide is the third installment of the Ender series. On Lusitania, Ender found a world where humans and pequeninos and the Hive Queen could all live together; where three very different intelligent species could find common ground at last. Or so he thought. But Lusitania also harbors the descolada, a virus which kills all humans it infects, but which the pequeninos require in order to transform into adults.

No music belongs in an audiobook
Revisado: 06-30-22
The way this and other enders game audio books have decided to contain random snippets of sound and music is soooooo distracting and weirdly thought out. They don't even seem to come at appropriate moments. It's absolutely asinine and should be removed. If somehow it was done to add to the story, that could make sense. But this seems extremely forced. Like trying to do a proof of concept that turned out terrible. except for some reason it's in alot of these later enders game series.

Unimpressed
Revisado: 02-23-22
Overall the story was okay, but definitely worse than the first book. The new "competition" that the protagonist had to do was without a doubt more boring and just seemed like a copy/paste 6 times in a row. In addition, the last 20 minute story round-up trying close out all the story loops seemed too quick and forced and in doing so made characters agree or do things that completely went against their character qualities.
As before with the first book, movie/tv celebrities are not good at performing audible books and those roles should be left to the professionals who have put the effort in and become good for doing this work and not simply giving a tv star the chance to do something because of their name. Every character has the same voice, inflection and excitement during tense moments are lackluster and I think the performance was overall unimpressive. Wil Wheaton is better than some of the other tv/movie celebrity performances, but still leaves much to be desired when compared to top tier audiobook performers.

In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Fantastic Book
Revisado: 02-01-22
Loved the book. Storytelling was top notch.
On the other hand, as always I disappointed with the movie celebrity performances. Every character pretty much has the same sound and they only get to read the audiobook due to their status as a movie star and not from their skill reading audiobooks.

Really enjoyed the book and the performance by Ray Porter was of course fantastic. clearly pushing some agendas in the book but the plot and over arching story was great. Would be cool to visit again in the future, but was also great as a one off book.

Fantastic book
Revisado: 10-25-21
Loved the whole thing. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Enjoyed the story and the fact there weren't any sexual parts and most of the book didn't have bad language, though there was some at the beginning.
Additionally the performance by Ray Porter was top notch as always. The instant Ray Porter started talking I was loving it. (Though I do have to admit that might be from the fact he also performed the Bobiverse books and I loved those too, so maybe my initial reaction was just nostalgia from there.)
I highly suggest this book to anyone even remotely interested in it. Anyone who loves space or a good story, this will be a great selection. That being said, here comes a small spoiler where I'll be very unspecific, but someone who read the book should know what I'm talking about. But stop reading if you don't want to hear it....No seriously you need to stop reading if you don't want any thing spoiled.....Okay, I warned you....Okay the only thing I feel like I wanted, was that I would have personally liked him to be able to go back home. Obviously he had the choice and he enjoyed what he was doing there. And I love that he went and experienced it and got his buddy back home, but I would liked one more chapter, years later maybe going to visit and see that they made it and what it's like there in person. I would have even been fine if he realized he couldn't stay anymore because it's another place now and decided to explore the nearby stars with Rocky or something. I dunno. Maybe there's room for another book in the future. Obviously it's really not that big a deal that it never happened. But just a small something I would have liked. Overall I still loved every minute of it!

Historia
In April 1970, during the glory days of the Apollo space program, NASA sent Navy Captain Jim Lovell and two other astronauts on America's fifth mission to the moon. Only 55 hours into the flight of Apollo 13, disaster struck: a mysterious explosion rocked the ship, and soon its oxygen and power began draining away. Written with all the color and drama of the best fiction, Apollo 13 (previously published as Lost Moon) tells the full story of the moon shot that almost ended in catastrophe.

Fantastic account of the true story
Revisado: 10-15-21
Loved every bit of it. even though I know the story and have seen the movie many times, this book was by no means boring. It contains so much more detail that at times I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat wondering how the next issue would be concluded, even though I already knew the general answer. I highly suggest this to anyone even remotely interested.

As someone who found this book just by scrolling through audible, I wish there was some kind of rating system to detail what kind of content would be in the book.
