A throwback to happier times
Revisado: 03-29-21
For those who remember D&D in it's glory days, or for those you have discovered it more recently, this book brings back to life a fantasy story first told in the 1980s, before internet and mobile phones.

Entertaining and well read

I enjoyed the text, and also the effort that went into the narration. This is a classic for good reason.

During the last days of Narnia, the land faces its fiercest challenge - not an invader from without but an enemy from within. Lies and treachery have taken root, and only the king and a small band of loyal followers can prevent the destruction of all they hold dear in this, the magnificent ending to The Chronicles of Narnia.

A tidy finish...
Revisado: 07-21-20
While the other Narnia books were very good. this feels the weakest, especially the last third of the text. Still entertaining, but not in the same way as the others.

Historia
William Shakespeare, the most celebrated poet in the English language, left behind nearly a million words of text, but his biography has long been a thicket of wild supposition arranged around scant facts. With a steady hand and his trademark wit, Bill Bryson sorts through this colorful muddle to reveal the man himself.

A very enjoyable listen, although I feel it is best savoured in morsels as opposed to being bingeworthy. Thank you Mr Bryson.

Aided only by a fox they call “the tod,” the two dogs must struggle to survive in their new environment. Good, but not as good as Watership Down...
Revisado: 08-10-19
I really enjoyed Watership Down and was looking forward to this production. Narration was excellent, however the narrative while engaging was somewhat 'preachy' and idealistic. Nevertheless, the development of the characters was strong, and use of descriptive text engaging, if somewhat verbose occasionally. I think the book would have been better if it was a third or so shorter. Still, all in all, I was pleased I stuck with it to the end. Ralf. Ralf.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Great story.
Revisado: 09-29-17
Only criticism is that some character voices, such as the dwarfs, were a little annoying. Great narration of the poetry and songs.
