Terrible Writing
Revisado: 01-01-25
For being some kind of autistic genius the main character is sure dumb, continually missing the obvious. She’s always taking a sip of Dark Lord beer. She can’t just drink a beer it’s got to be a ‘sip of Dark Lord.’ Where does she keep finding the stuff? The writing is awful and repetitive and the narrator dull.

Sad and Stellar
Revisado: 12-12-24
This book brought tears to my eyes several times because of the sadness and loss of a sane man during brutal war. I think it was beautifully written and narrated.

Uninspiring
Revisado: 12-05-24
This is the story of a depressed FBI agent who makes some odd decisions, fall asleep for hours in odd places, but somehow still cracks the case. I almost thought I’d get through this without any seemingly obligatory lesbian/bisexual sex (hope springs eternal) but, the epilogue checked that box.

Twists and Twisted
Revisado: 11-26-24
The story had a good amount of twists and turns although you will probably guess who the killers are before they’re revealed. The narrator could use some work on his accents. The men in the story are always thinking about sex even in stressful situations and that seemed a little dumb after happening so many times, but I thought the mystery was good and it kept my interest.

Courage is a seldom seen trait in Hollywood and few possess it, not even The Fixer himself. This is a sad collection of tales and nobody seems to have a happy ending.

Historia
A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Unsatisfying
Revisado: 11-18-24
A good premise about a supposed talented (but highly depressed) attorney who never seems to pull anything off. He’s being secretly undermined but at the same time he never makes any concrete decisions or decisive moves. There’s no real redemption or recovery and that makes the story very unsatisfying.

Excellent
Revisado: 11-12-24
I liked how no one was raked over the coals for letting this happen, it was given a balanced perspective. It starts with a husband who wanted to conveniently get rid of his wife and children because he wanted a relationship, and subsequent marriage and family, with another woman. This, to me, is the real crime. It’s about the status of women at the time without being ultra feminist. It’s about personal sadness and certain tendencies. It’s mostly about resilience, courage, and providence. A good and sobering listen, but redeeming too.
