Historia
Gracianna is inspired by true events in the life of Trini Amador’s great-grandmother, Gracianna Lasaga. As an adult, Amador was haunted by the vivid memory of finding a loaded German Luger tucked away in a nightstand while wandering his great-grandmother’s home in Southern California. He was only four years old at the time. Decades later, Amador would delve into the remarkable odyssey of his Gracianna’s past, a road that led him to an incredible surprise. In Gracianna, Amador weaves fact and fiction to tell his great-grandmother’s story.

A Little Too Fictional
Revisado: 01-14-22
Though the story had some interesting elements that kept the reader engaged, I found the events and interactions with Nazi Germany officers in occupied France a little too fictional and unrealistic. In terms of performance, since there was no change in voices between different characters it was sometimes a little hard to follow which character was speaking.

Historia
This captivating historical thriller brings back Marian Sutro, ex-special operations agent, and traces her romantic and political exploits in post-World War II London, where the Cold War is about to reshape old loyalties. As Allied forces close in on Berlin in spring 1945, a solitary figure emerges from the wreckage that is Germany. It is Marian Sutro, whose existence was last known to her British controllers in autumn 1943 in Paris.

Captivating story. Performance is good, but different character voices are too similar. Overall a good read.

Historia
I must write this account, and when I have finished, I will burn it. Buried deep within the archives of a convent in medieval France is an untold story of love, loss, and wonder, and the two girls at the heart of it all. Dolssa is an upper-crust city girl with a secret lover and an uncanny gift. Branded a heretic, she’s on the run from the friar who condemned her mother to death by fire, and wants Dolssa executed, too. Botille is a matchmaker and a tavern-keeper, struggling to keep herself and her sisters on the right side of the law in their seaside town of Bajas.

An Intersting story with great narration

Great Story. The narrators did a fantastic job, particularly the voice of the three sisters was so expressive of their personalities.

An engaging and interesting read
Revisado: 10-20-21
Very intriguing story. The author creatively wove in the story of making Indigo into the journey of a young girl determine to make her mark and succeed. Before I started the book I was wondering how Indigo making could be made interesting but now I am impressed how it was done. Best of all it seems there is a historical element to this story.

A little excruciating
Revisado: 05-15-21
Too Many traumatic passages. You keep wondering why the main characters would not learn past lessons and walk away from trouble instead of getting themselves in the same life-threatening predicaments. The villains were far too villainous . At times it felt a little contrived. Got a little better towards the end.

Very intriguing story and wonderfully woven into the history of WWII. Good performance. Really enjoyed listening to this audiobook but when the last chapter rolled in to an abrupt end I was surprised. I was ready for so much more but the ending was s quick quick leap in time.

Historia
Marvellously atmospheric tale of strangers summoned to a grand but neglected villa on the Italian coast. Each of them has been named in a will, but nobody knows their benefactress.... Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos.

Historia
1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

Entertaining but Predictable
Revisado: 09-22-19
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook but the overall storyline as well as the performance were unremarkable. Too much of "reluctant girl" falling in love emphasis. The historical aspects and details were interesting however. I found the narrator's tone a little annoying and all the men and most of the women in this performance sounded the same.
