What a great story

I will definitely listen to this author again. This story was worthy of human narrators. I wish it was longer. Surprisingly good.

JA's narration brought this story to life

What's to like about addiction and childhood trauma, and the potential devastating ruin of lives. But this book, this story was a perfect portrayal of one of our times greatest heartbreaks. It's not that easy to listen to, but the author keeps the reader/listener emotionally invested in the characters journey. I rooted for them, I cried with them, and finally my emotions were eased from the love that bonded them. I would highly recommend listening to this audio book. Joe Arden was the life blood who's acting narrative is real and true. I cannot say enough about his impression.

Heartfelt journey

This really is a seriously beautiful love story. Riddled with secrets and passion, and the once in a lifetime love. There are obstacles to overcome, big obstacles but remaining true to one's heart and holding on tight is the key for these lovers. Excellent narration, and kudos to the author for keeping this story as one book instead of splitting it into two.

Young love

The characters in the book were young adults, and the author portrayed them very well. The story held my interest, and thanks to the human narrators the characters emotions were presented as humans. (A snub to virtual voice)

Dark suspenseful age gap romance

First off, kudos to the female narrator. Her voice is beautiful. What a sad and hopeless life these people lived. Most of them by their own choosing. It takes courage just to exist, let alone rise above and get the hell out. I questioned the ability of the lead male character to not just turn around and do the same thing again, and even for a good guy he was unsettlingly wishy-washy. It was easy to get angry with him. But here's the thing, the author wrote a deeply twisted cast of characters and she was able to elisit strong emotional responses from the reader/listener, and that to me is an absorbing journey through this dark love affair. Equally, the passion was full of "those feelings", and I like the heat.

Passionate love story

The author packed a full length, full of feels MM age gap romance into a 2 hour book. I fell in love with both characters and the awesome narration evoked the deep emotional empathy. I'll be listening to more of Sara Cates books.

Golden

Without the deep character development this story would have fallen short. The descriptions of the place they were at made it easy for the reader to step into their world. I thought the attraction was just the right amount of angst and slow burn balanced by their need. Although not the first time the overall story line has been done, Ms Andrews captured the essence of the world they ended up in, and even though I'm not a man I enjoyed the masculine sensitivity that she created between the men. Well worth the time to listen to this one. Hot and clenching sex scenes.

What a ride!

A dark, tragic, very sexy romantic journey. I'm not so sure that a woman would actually jump on this ride, however, this is a fantastic story created from the mind of a unique author, and I believe knowing this going in would enhance the reader/listener experience. Great narration actors. Good character development particularly if someone followed the series as the author continues to make the necessary connections with the past personalities.

A thorough immersion

A lengthy story of war, love and loss. A rough era to be gay in. Achingly tender with so much confusion of sexual identity. I became immersed in the story, past and the present. The narration is very good even with a few slips out of character. No harm in my opinion. There was a timeline fopa at the end but I didn't judge the quality of the overall work on it.

Read in duet

LB does it again with 2 men who fall head over heels in an instant kind of love. An easy going wholly accepted MM romance set primarily in England. Of course there's a happy ending that sums up most of the authors works, which is just fine with me. Written exclusively for these two narrators who did a wonderful heartfelt job. Outtakes at the end include a bonus scene and more fun.
