Historia
Named one of the top books of 2009 by the Times Literary Supplement (London), this controversial and compelling audiobook from Dr. Stephen C. Meyer presents a convincing new case for intelligent design (ID) based on revolutionary discoveries in science and DNA. Along the way Meyer argues that Charles Darwin's theory of evolution as expounded in The Origin of Species did not, in fact, refute ID.

I think his argument stands
Revisado: 03-27-23
You could easily topple this kind of argument by providing some kind of conclusive experiment that showed you could generate biological information by mixing chemicals, adding energy, etc, just not intervening and letting the laws do their work (in generating pre-life). Given that this has not happened, I think his position still stands, and may even be the best option. In the meantime, the work of science is to refute it. In other words, a more reductionist solution is preferable, and should be found if possible. Accepting ID is the last resort in the face of total failure, a kind of capitulation of science, but it's still on the table.
The book is thorough, repetitive, but it achieves clarity. I think very few people are qualified to make the technical argument that ID is science, but It seems like the author has the necessary credentials. I don't like the argument for legitimacy and public acceptance - his position would be revolutionary if accepted, and would be overturning the entire cart. Revolutionaries don't get accepted into the mainstream until their ideas have conquered the others and the old guard is forced to step down.
This is truly a fascinating area of science in my view. The details about the DNA molecule, and the work of the cell are stunning. I really enjoyed the section on the new discoveries in the language of DNA (introns, extrons and encrypted messages) that suggests cell was designed by a "super-mind". He does a good job of laying out that ID is able to make conclusions that contribute to understanding of the cell and science as a whole. In other words, one's background of beliefs or motives does not make their scientific work invalid.
The world is not ready for this yet, but the Christian believers (such as myself) hopefully have the patience to play the long game for this line of thought to be validated, if it's Gods will.

In There Is a God, one of the world's preeminent atheists discloses how his commitment to "follow the argument wherever it leads" led him to a belief in God as Creator. This is a compelling and refreshingly open-minded argument that will forever change the atheism debate.

Enlightening and Enjoyable
Revisado: 11-10-22
The narrator is excellent - it's actually kind of a brain massage to have reasonable arguments spoken in an English accent with so much confidence and clarity, which is a really important trait in an audiobook. That being said, it took several listens for me to understand the arguments made for Flew's change of mind. It is most interesting that Flew absorbed the same kind of "God" of universal laws that Einstein believed in, yet went further based on his impressions that cellular complexity and consciousness demanded an intelligence beyond what evolution could explain.

Often called the "Father of Church History", Eusebius was the first to trace the rise of Christianity during its crucial first three centuries from Christ to Constantine. Our principal resource for earliest Chrisitianity, The Church History presents a panorama of apostles, church fathers, emperors, bishops, heroes, heretics, confessors, and martyrs. This audiobook edition includes Paul L. Maier's clear and precise translation, historical commentary on each book in The Church History, and numerous maps, illustrations, and photographs.

Amazing if you read the bible
Revisado: 10-26-21
I learned much of the back-story behind the Bible. The story of the early Christians, particularly the martyrs is both terrifying and extremely uplifting.
