Listening to this book is like living inside
A surround sound movie where the cameras and mikes and time machines are not just in a 360 degree envelopment ( more accurately: they fill the entire volume of the sphere, where you, the reader are in the mid point with your mind and senses, but the sound also emerges from the innermost nuclei of each consciousness involved in the story. Even the fictional inside the fiction stories.
I thought it started out a little slow, perhaps even boring. I was comparing to Life after Life, which grabbed my attention more immediately ,
but stealthily and irrevocably I was caught up in a story that, I suspect , will stay with me all my conscious days. It is official. I am a Kate Atkinson fan. I am second generation survivor of the holocaust and WWII and have of late been fascinated by the subject. I have been meeting educated Germans who boldly state that Hitler never existed. I hope the Legions haunt that person's dreamscape. And also, through all this book's agnosticisms, to which I have subscribed and still do-- I was inspired to find the "point" for myself. Wondrous book! Expose yourself at your own peril

I have discovered Bryce Courtenay and I am obsessed This is my third after a friend told me about "Power of one "
I am most thoroughly entertained.
In the process, I am also educated and my horizon expanded, but this occurs incidentally.
Mostly, a wonderful story masterfully presented
And most difficult to put down. Thank goodness for its length. I wanted it to go on and on
