Historia
Against the Left explores something basic to libertarianism that many people today have forgotten. As everyone knows, libertarians view the state and the individual as fundamentally opposed. People who freely interact in the market create on their own a wonderful society that advances progress. In Against the Left, we examine some key battlegrounds in the struggle to preserve and advance real libertarianism against its enemies.

Lots of Libertarian Clarity!
Revisado: 11-08-21
Lew Rockwell wrote this book as he does everything else he writes; with straightforward clarity. I find his writing style both refreshing and accessible. Needless to say, this audiobook was an enjoyable listen. Also, kudos to Scott Pollak who did a great job reading the text!

Today, we are told that medical interventions increased our lifespan and single-handedly prevented masses of deaths. But is this really true? Dissolving Illusions details facts and figures from long-overlooked medical journals, books, newspapers, and other sources. Using myth-shattering information, this book shows that vaccines, antibiotics, and other medical interventions are not responsible for the increase in lifespan and the decline in mortality from infectious diseases.

Excellent Audiobook
Revisado: 10-13-21
I truly appreciate the authors for writing this excellent book! The evidence they present is well worth the time of anyone interested in the unattractive (and scarier) elements of vaccines; the history of which is quite disconcerting. Are vaccines today presented to us in a scary light? Of course the answer is no, but the authors of this book give us a clear view of what potentially lurks in the background.

Historia
First published as articles in El Sol in 1929, the essays in The Revolt of the Masses serve as a prescient analysis of a 20th-century creature - the "mass man" - and the mass society that he makes up. With strains of Jamesian pragmatism and the sociology of Gustave Le Bon, Ortega shows how technological and political changes reduced Western civilization to the lowest common denominator and made it susceptible to the pressures of statism.

Excellent Audiobook!
Revisado: 06-21-21
I want to say how very grateful I am to Audible for making this title available! It gave me great pleasure to both purchase and listen to it. With that said, there are some other great titles written by Mr. Gasset, that I hope will one day be made available here too.
Though Jackson Moss may not have given a superb or stellar performance (I think he is still quite youthful and unseasoned); I am nevertheless very, very grateful that he took on this project! So let me say it clearly, thank you Mr. Moss!

This sweeping book is a systematic treatment of the historic transformation of the West from limited monarchy to unlimited democracy. Revisionist in nature, it reaches the conclusion that monarchy, with all its failings, is a lesser evil than mass democracy but outlines deficiencies in both as systems of guarding liberty.

Historia
In this fascinating account of the surprisingly violent fifth-century church, Philip Jenkins describes how political maneuvers by a handful of powerful characters shaped Christian doctrine. Were it not for these battles, today's church could be teaching something very different about the nature of Jesus, and the papacy as we know it would never have come into existence. Jesus Wars reveals the profound implications of what amounts to an accident of history: that one faction of Roman emperors and militia-wielding bishops defeated another.

Intellectualism (Academia)
Revisado: 06-15-21
The author (Philip Jenkins) wrote this book in a very accessible way; on balance, it can be understood by the "lay" reader. Nevertheless, Mr. Jenkins ultimately could not avoid the ubiquitous snare of academia; the baneful "what if" or the obligatory hypothetical teleological alternative outcomes.
My hope in purchasing this audio book, was that clear and heretofore obscure "facts" in early church history, would reveal the persons and events that affect the modern Christian's belief system - doctrinal or theological. The impression I was unfortunately left with, was that the author simply wanted to present historical events. And this with the aforementioned hypothetical teleology, or the possibility of different outcomes.

Superbly Read Audio Book!
Revisado: 06-10-21
The individualism expressed by Matthew Arnold in this book is exceedingly interesting. Indeed I will say that it's refreshing! It is not a book about our current events; it is the author's view of the persons and events of his day (1800s England).
Michael Maloney truly brought this audio book to life. He reads the text with a superb professional performance!

There’s been a global deluge of contradictory opinions, fake news, and politically controlled information. Differing views on the dangers posed by the pandemic have led to deep division and confusion, within governments, society, and even among friends and family. Historia
This is an excellent look at the religious system of the Catholic Church from the inside. Charles Chiniquy studied at the college of Nicolet in Canada; after graduation he entered the priesthood (at an early age) and continued therein until he was an old man. At the age of 49 he left the Roman church, taking his congregation with him, and became a Presbyterian minister. His encounters with the inner workings of the of the Roman church are enlightening and could come only from someone who was embedded in such a system for so many years.

Excellent Christian Testimony!
Revisado: 11-03-20
This book, which is essentially an autobiography, is quite amazing. Due to the fact that it was written in the 1800s, the author is ostentatious in the way he presents the events of his life. But the two final chapters, which concludes his personal experiences, make the entire audiobook worth any unpleasantness.
Dan Kassis who reads the text, was a perfect match for this audiobook. He gave a 10/10 performance! In fact, his presentation was so convincing that I imagined Mr. Chiniquy would have sounded exactly the same, if he had read the text.

Historia
Public Opinion qualifies as a classic by virtue of its systematic brilliance and literary grace. Divided into eight parts, it covers such varied issues as stereotypes, image making, and organized intelligence. The study begins with an analysis of "the world outside and the pictures in our heads, " a leitmotif that starts with issues of censorship and privacy, speed, words, and clarity, and ends with a careful survey of the modern newspaper. Public Opinion is of enduring significance for communications scholars, historians, sociologists, and political scientists.

Please Re-record This Audiobook
Revisado: 09-17-20
I had high hopes this would be a impressive educational audiobook; I was sadly disappointed. John Klickman was unable to present the text in a fluid and thoughtful manner. Aside from numerous mispronounced names and words, Mr. Klickman simply could not maintain the author's intended pacing. The end result of these things is a very uninspiring, and dreadful listening experience!
This could very well have been a 5 star review. It is my strong recommendation that "Public Opinion" be re-recorded, and that with a seasoned performer. If this happens, I will purchase it in the hope that the text therein may be redeemed.

Historia
Summa Theologica consists of three main parts. The second part is divided two, and this recording presents Prima Secundae - Part I of Part II. Taken in its entirety, Summa Theologica forms an essential contribution to the canon of Catholic doctrine and was written in the last decade of his life by Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), an Italian-born Dominican friar. Although he died before completing it, the body of thought it contains is a continuing influence to the education and guidance of students of theology in the main Christian traditions.
