wonderful if you love history

Very interesting and detailed. This book gave me a wonderful insight on historical events and the shaping of European nations from an absolute fantastic perspective. Metternick is a fascinating figure and was at incredibly pivotal moments in history. So far ahead of his time that the later mockery of his contemporaries is expected. Well written and excellently performed.

Absolutely amazing well told story of the ideas that were almost snuffed out but could not be stopped. From the telling of the life of Poggio, his script (the humanist script) to the history and discovery of the amazing poem which held heretical ideas like the existence of atoms, this book covers vast ground over history and shows the seeds of the reawakening of the human intellect. Thoughts and ideas cannot be stopped even by a determined dogmatic church authority which burned the books and people that spread those ideas the church thought heretical. Amazing story and well written and performed. If you like history, poetry, philosophy and the medium for which ideas are recorded and transmitted then this book is for you! Great book!

love is the biggest demon

This hit home for me because I didn't realize that the love I had for my wife was an attachment so strong that I would do whatever she said. I would give her whatever she wanted instead of what she needed and for this I fell. Realizing that I was actually too attached to the idea of my wife's love, I was blind to what was happening. Now I am free to live and be loved without the blinders on and this book really helped me to process this well and without resentment but with more love.

the story is amazing. James Islington is an incredible writer. A Roman style world where stoicism shows its beautiful face and can be seen as the anchor for the main character. just awesome stuff

scientific gardening!

Fantastic book for understanding soil and how, with improved soil, you can grow nutrient dense food. All other gardening paradigms mentioned in the book don't have the goal of nutrient dense food or use prescriptions that won't necessarily work everywhere. They use guess work while this book emphasizes soil testing and the tools to read a soil test and how to amend your specific soil based on your testing results.

if you can handle it, you should read it. it is like Euclidean geometry in the way it starts with axioms, their staying beliefs, then through logical argument expounds in the consequences of all things and flows through the finite and infinite. Jay L. Garfield's consolidation of the ideas into a more comprehensible read for modern readers is an absolute gem.

Brandon Sanderson never dissapoints, this has to be one of his best and that's saying a lot. He is one of the only authors that can surprise me while still maintaining just enough predictability to give the reader what they want. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are the best in the business and this performance is no different, simply the best.
