Historia
The architect of The Wizard of Oz delves into the mythological beginnings of the jolly old elf himself. Baum created a mythological world in which the magical forest of Burzee, created at the beginning of time, is the main source of all otherworldly magical power. Ak, the Master Woodsman, ruled the forests; Kern, the Master Husbandman of the World, ruled the food crops; Bo, the Master Mariner of the World, ruled the seas. All other immortals are subject to these three. Baum also created Ryls as guardians of the flowers and Knooks as guardians of the animals of the world.

Some of the concepts are occasionally difficult to get my mind around. Reading and referring back to commonly used terms would make this less confusing. Very challenging philosophy but I see the value and wisdom in it

It is November 25, 1960, and the bodies of three beautiful, convent-educated sisters have been found near their wrecked Jeep at the bottom of a 150-foot cliff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. El Caribe, the official newspaper, reports their deaths as an accident. It does not mention that a fourth sister lives. Nor does it explain that the sisters were among the leading opponents of General Raphael Leonidas Trujillo's dictatorship.

I was surprised that I ended up liking this
Revisado: 06-29-24
Excellent narrator!! Handled the male parts really well in comparison to other narrators trying to cover both male and female parts. In the beginning until halfway thru the story I really disliked Ellis' character - she was immensely self absorbed and asked people she loved to keep her burdensome secrets. At some point Ellis became more human and started letting the walls down. A happy ending but a bit too perfect considering how messy and imperfect we all are and how our families tend to be. I wished that Viola had asked Rose to also move into her WA house. Wonderfully liberating for Jonah and healing for all. Again, a bit too perfect but who doesn't like a happy ending. I almost feel sorry for - but I don't - "poor Gran" and her expectations, lol. Heartwarming that Reese became Rose's 3rd son and had a family he needed. Max was an awesome character! She was integral to the families healing.

Historia
Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Ebenezer Scrooge come to marvelous life in Patrick Stewart's critically-acclaimed solo interpretation of A Christmas Carol. The star of X-Men and The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stewart has performed his one-man stage production of this holiday classic to sell-out audiences.

A masterpiece in every way
Revisado: 12-18-23
Sir Patrick Stewart with his iconic voice and passion for acting is brilliant in this edition of A Christmas Carol - one of my favorite books (and movie adaptations). Patrick Stewart played Scrooge in one of the best movie adaptations followed by Jim Carrey in the animated version.
The only downside is that Simon & Schusters version is abridged and has left out parts of the tale that I wish they'd left in.
I've seen and read this story - and watched the movies - so many times and don't tire of it.
