Perfect

Little Women was a favorite of mine growing up. I haven't read it in over 40 years. This was a DELIGHTFUL visit. The familiar stories and characters were re-awakened and performed in a way that new life was breathed into each page.
Listening to this version was a beautiful way to start the New Year and break away from the holiday stories I listened to during November and December.
If you're already a fan of Little Women - you won't be disappointed. If you haven't read it before, don't hesitate. It's the perfect introduction to a world gone- by. And there are new lessons to learn at every stage of life.
I feel renewed. I feel challenged. I feel ready to face 2023 with a fresh and positive outlook.

Gracianna is inspired by true events in the life of Trini Amador’s great-grandmother, Gracianna Lasaga. As an adult, Amador was haunted by the vivid memory of finding a loaded German Luger tucked away in a nightstand while wandering his great-grandmother’s home in Southern California. He was only four years old at the time. Decades later, Amador would delve into the remarkable odyssey of his Gracianna’s past, a road that led him to an incredible surprise. In Gracianna, Amador weaves fact and fiction to tell his great-grandmother’s story.

Amazing Story
Revisado: 06-08-22
What an incredible heroine! She's a hero with strength of character that is nearly unparalleled. The story was a little slow for me in the beginning but I kept remembering that it was a TRUE story and deserved my attention and respect! Before I knew it I was completely drawn in. The ending was beautiful.
Give this story your time and attention. You won't be sorry.

This book is a piece of history that reads like a novel. It is absolutely intriguing!!

Wow. Fantastic story.
Revisado: 04-20-22
Historical fiction is my favorite genre.
This niche of Russian female pilots in WW2 was gripping and fascinating. All the characters were very well developed and the story unfolded in a way that was absolutely captivating.
The narrator was phenomenal. She captured every nuance and flawlessly performed throughout the entire story. I was moved to tears several times and was sorry to see the story end but grateful for the way in which it concluded.
I appreciate the knowledge I've gained about this part of WW2 and the understanding I've come to in regards to the Soviet people during this era.
This book was worth every minute and I'm grateful to have listened to it.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

This story has to be one of the best I've read about WW2 - especially from the German perspective. It is riveting from the very beginning to the last page. Completely captivating. It is a must-read for any WW2 student of history. This story restored my faith in humanity and gave me insight into "the enemy. " It changed me. I am so grateful this story has been written.

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

This is a story that's entertaining and thought provoking. It challenged me to assess my life. How I view myself. How I value myself. How I value my relationships. How I interact with others. It was sweet and light and funny with a deep underlying storyline that kept me thinking. The narrator was phenomenal.

Join Clara Parkes on a cross-country adventure and meet a cast of characters that includes the shepherds, dyers, and countless workers without whom our knitting needles would be empty, our mills idle, and our feet woefully cold. Travel the country with her as she meets a flock of Saxon Merino sheep in upstate New York, tours a scouring plant in Texas, visits a steamy Maine dyehouse, helps sort freshly shorn wool on a working farm, and learns how wool fleece is measured, baled, shipped, and turned into skeins.

SO Insightful!
Revisado: 08-09-21
I am inspired to support American fibers and specifically American Wool. I've already purchased 2 virgin wool home spun beanies from a Sheep Rancher in Montana!
This author is passionate about protecting our American Wool and the ranchers, factories, and artists responsible for bringing us that wool.
Each of us CAN make a difference.
This is an informative book with plenty of anecdotes to make it relevant and fun. I think it added to the depth of the story by its performance being done by the author herself.
My eyes are opened and I will endeavor to wear more American wool. I will start knitting again - with American Wool. And I will seek out ways to support this industry to prevent it being outsourced. It's within our ability to Make America(n) Wool Great Again! 🇺🇸

Revisado: 07-23-21
This is a story that is beautiful. Beautifully complicated. Beautifully performed. And beautifully concluded. It is very thought provoking. For me, it was unpredictable. I am so glad I listened to it. I think it continued to shape my view and understanding of love and what it means to love your other half. It has deepened my thoughts on One True Love and how that can look in the real world.
Don't debate. Give this book your full attention. Lean into it. Experience it. And be changed for the better by it.

This story was much better than I ever anticipated it would be. It was a fascinating account of an almost unbelievable family history. It's definitely worth the listen. It is perfectly performed by the narrator. I'm so grateful It had a complete and satisfactory ending. I was afraid at times that it would hit a dead end and leave us wondering.
Thank you for sharing this piece of fascinating family history with the world.

Historia
An utterly unsentimental journey toward the end of life, Mala is an irreverent exploration of how we live, cope, and survive in the moment. Grounded in Lopez’s distinctive emotional language and sharp humor, this powerful one-woman show dances between doctors and urgent 911 calls, a mother’s growing frailty, and a daughter’s quest for grace - all set during an epic Boston winter. Rather than depict a “right way”, the play opens the door for our universal struggle to support those we love in dying, especially when all we’ve ever focused on is surviving.

This was very insightful. Honest. Moving. And something I identified with completely. It validated my emotions, thoughts and feelings surrounding the care and eventual passing of my dad, father- in- law and Mother-in-law - all of who's deaths at which I was present.
Thank you. For being honest, raw and true to the vast array of thoughts and emotions these events evoke.
This listen was more cathartic and productive than a good cry.
