Love this podcast!
Revisado: 04-15-23
I love their podcast! The format makes physics very accessible. The hosts and friends have great rapport. You learn, but also laugh a few times. And it’s easy enough to understand for someone with no background but not dumbed down. Regarding this particular episode, I will just say I found it interesting that they essentially presented the existence of God and science to be mutually exclusive. It is possible that an intelligent creator and science/physics are reconcilable.

Phenomenal!
Revisado: 08-02-21
No matter how good a book is, if you’re listening to it you need a good narrator as well. This narrator was fantastic, highly recommend!
As far as the book, I adored it. The writing was beautiful, the main characters were developed, the setting was fascinating. I read a review that said the book was too depressing, just one bad thing after another. I didn’t feel that way at all. Not everyone leads a charmed life and constant setbacks and struggles and trauma are the reality for many people in this world. I found all of it realistic and I felt there was so much hope and love despite everything else.

Historia
Lucy used to handle her adult romantic life according to the script she’d been handed. She met a guy just like herself: same age, same background, same hopes and dreams; they got married and started a family. Too bad he made her miserable. Now, two decades later, she’s a nearly divorced, forty-one-year-old schoolteacher with two school-aged sons, and there is no script anymore. So when she meets Joseph, she isn’t exactly looking for love—she’s more in the market for a babysitter.

Very much enjoyed
Revisado: 07-15-21
I read some bad reviews and people who said they couldn’t figure out why an older white woman and a younger black man would ever be together so it was unrealistic. That’s a really unfair review, people are complex and you never know what two people will be drawn to each other. The narration was fantastic and I quite enjoyed all aspects of the book. Perhaps I am biased though. It mirrored my real life freakily close. I’m a 40 something divorced white woman whose husband was an alcoholic and I was being pursued by a 20 something African-American man.

Getting snowed in at a luxurious, rustic ski chalet high in the French Alps doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world. Especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a full-service chef and housekeeper, a cozy fire to keep you warm, and others to keep you company. Unless that company happens to be eight coworkers…each with something to gain, something to lose, and something to hide.

Decent
Revisado: 07-15-21
The narration was fantastic but I didn’t love the book. I liked it, but did not love it. Pretty cool ending though. The book vacillated between the point of view of two main characters. My least favorite part of the book was that so much time was spent on the characters thoughts and guesses and assumptions about “who done it. “ I like to think of that stuff myself. It could’ve been better spent on character development or other aspects of the book. I felt like the author took away one of the most fun parts of a murder mystery by laying out every possible scenario in straightforward ways through the thoughts of the main characters trying to solve it.

Good narration and interesting story
Revisado: 07-15-21
The narrator did a good job. I liked her dialogue more than the inner monologue‘s. The inner monologue‘s were a little more flat, though it conveyed when I perceived as the bitterness of the main character. It wasn’t overly predictable and there were some interesting twists and storylines. I enjoyed the character development as well. Pretty good! The best book ever? No, but still worth the read/listen.

A perfect next listen for fans of Abbi Waxman and Katherine Center, Can't Take It Back is a fast-paced and relatable debut telling the interconnected stories of four women over the course of a kindergarten school year. Huddled on their favorite park bench in a quiet Seattle suburb, Holly, Avery, Zoe, and Sasha might look like they've got it all figured out - but there’s more to their stories than meets the eye.

I really enjoyed the book. Compelling and interesting and into a movie. I enjoy having different narrator’s for each of the main characters and all of the narrators, some in particular, did a great job.

I disagree with people who say it’s boring and it’s been done. They pay homage to movies of the past but this is done in a completely new way. Lots of timely social commentary as well. I found it to be very funny and very well narrated.

Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Not Bad
Revisado: 04-16-21
Decent narrator. A little flat at times but mostly pretty good. In some ways the story was predictable, in other ways there was a surprise. I don’t really think the reasoning at the end is a very good reason but it was a free book and really short, so still worth the time.
