I love, love, LOVE this podcast!!!!! Really fun, really creative, really human sci fi. I love this particular episode
because Finlay Stevenson reveals that she is an amazing singer with a fabulous Broadway voice that must be heard to be believed. LISTEN!!!

Loved the enlarged and more detailed view of the pre-WWII American fascist movements and the unsung heroes who worked tirelessly to reveal their tentacles in the halls of Congress.
As always, Rachel Maddow is clear, distinct, and thorough in her reporting. This is not only history I was never taught in school but should have been but it is timely in its revelation of how close we have come to authoritarianism before as it’s threat looms before us today. Let’s hope it will not take another massive war to remind us of who we say we are and who we want to be.

While I hardly expected great literature, the pronoun misuse was rampant and irritating. Then the narrator sounded as much like a North Carolinian as Fran Drescher.

Love the naivete of the main characters! No pompous gray cells here. Just bungling luck.

This feminist refocusing of ancient Greek literature to shine a light on its woman and how the centuries have treated them will open your eyes to how their interpretations reflect the culture looking at these iconic characters. This book proves that literary criticism doesn't need to be dry to be informative and erudite. I rather regret I no longer teach high school English because I would love to share this book with my students and colleagues. It's the best book I've listened to in ages, and the writer's narration was perfect--clear, engaging, it was great to hear her wry humor and feminist outrage as she enriched he subtlety of her academic prose (that is never prosaic and never cheesy). Highly recommend!

The multiple narrators are excellent and the concept of long gossipy/informative letters that has largely been lost to us is a perfect vehicle for the poignant moments that would not have naturally fallen within the storyline. It's a great book to escape into.

The perfection of Dan Stevens' characterizations of the many differing characters cannot be overrated; it is a genius that brings new life to an old favorite. This is a must-listen your audio library needs.

Highly improbable premise BUT charming with a plucky heroine and an underlying message about the dangers of fascist ideas whatever guises they wear. If you've never ventured beyond Poirot and Maple, this post-wwii Christie is worth the listen; Emilia Fox is a brilliant narrator and her performance s of Christie's work is perfection itself. Because of Fox's spot-on interpretation, I have listened to this book several times.

Half bedtime story about outrageous caricatures, half anthropological review of a panoply of gods and goddesses and giants who, like many in polytheistic stories, the characters in this book read more like the flawed people we all are ( with amazing skill sets we don't have), muddling through ego-trips and petty squabbles and heart-wrenching cruelty to arrive at an apocalyptic finale with a charming twist. Wow. And, as he well knows, no one can capture his writing with the wit and charm of the author himself. I will listen again and again.
