Historia
As the daughter of a rancher in 1840s Mexico, Nena knows a thing or two about monsters—her home has long been threatened by tensions with Anglo settlers from the north. But something more sinister lurks near the ranch at night, something that drains men of their blood and leaves them for dead.

Anticlimactic ending?
Revisado: 09-07-23
It was a cute romance.,the set up was more interesting but I guess we don’t always get the full story as the ending didn’t have the satisfactory end to the vampires or the Yankees. Overall it was interesting. It’s more filler than a MUST listen.

Historia
In a cottage overlooking the windswept Maine coast, Wilder Harlow has begun the last book he will ever write. It is the story about the sun-drenched summer days of his youth in Whistler Bay, and the blood-stained path of the killer that stalked his small vacation town. About the terrible secret he and his companions, Nat and Harper, discovered entombed in the coves off the bay. And how the pact they swore that day echoed down the decades, forever shaping their lives.

Meh
Revisado: 08-18-23
Took too long for me to care about the characters or story. Probably 6 hours in before I cared then all of a sudden there are new characters that took longer to care about. Found myself fast forwarding a lot towards the end.

Historia
Emma Carpenter lives in isolation with her golden retriever Laika, house-sitting an old beachfront home on the rainy Washington coast. Her only human contact is her enigmatic old neighbor, Deek, and (via text) the house’s owner, Jules. One day, she reads a poorly written—but gruesome—horror novel by the author H. G. Kane, and posts a one-star review that drags her into an online argument with none other than the author himself. Soon after, disturbing incidents start to occur at night.

Fun listen/read
Revisado: 06-22-23
Don’t overthink it like some reviewers. Some books just need to be fun twisty thrillers and this was a fun easy read all the way through.

Almost lost me when it felt like the story was taking place in the span of 5 minutes. Luckily it surprised me and got me back in. Great listen!

Cringe ending

Voice performance was fine. The book was awful. It was mostly ok for most of the book then the ending reveal was just so bad and cringey.

Rough start but I’m glad I kept going with it - fun read/listen
Revisado: 10-26-22
At the beginning I was on the same boat as those with the negative reviews about the concept of their life calling was to be bar fighters. I still think that was a silly characterization, especially because there was no background to that. Bad childhood? Early life trauma? I don’t know.
Ultimately what gripped me was the brother and sister relationship and the growth they had throughout the story. I was intrigued by the supernatural concepts and would like to read more about the lore the author used for such an intriguing world.
Once I stopped overthinking some silly decisions it was an overall fun read.

Historia
Documentary filmmaker Alice Lindstedt has been obsessed with the vanishing residents of the old mining town, dubbed “The Lost Village”, since she was a little girl. In 1959, her grandmother’s entire family disappeared in this mysterious tragedy, and ever since, the unanswered questions surrounding the only two people who were left - a woman stoned to death in the town center and an abandoned newborn - have plagued her. She’s gathered a small crew of friends in the remote village to make a film about what really happened.

Definitely enjoyed the story. I was interested from the get-go. Some of the characters lacked any development but they did help in the main character’s development.

Amazing story concept
Revisado: 10-09-22
I really enjoyed the use of mythology but also felt like it ultimately fell short in immersing us in the fantasy. It’s a romance story. If you’re looking for an immersive story that explores the mythology it uses, then this will not be for you.
