Historia
The ability to make sound and timely decisions is the mark of a good leader. But when leaders with otherwise strong track records suddenly begin making poor decisions - as seen in the recent corporate scandals that rocked the business world - the impact can be widespread. In The Stress Effect, leadership expert Henry L. Thompson argues that stress is often the real culprit behind this leadership failure.

Historia
Between 1861 and 1865, the clash of the greatest armies the Western hemisphere had ever seen turned small towns, little-known streams, and obscure meadows in the American countryside into names we will always remember. In those great battles, those streams ran red with blood-and the United States was truly born.

An awesome overview of the American Civil War
Revisado: 07-06-24
I truly enjoyed this set of lectures. I thought the lecturer very easy to listen to and very insightful. Learned a lot of things about the war that I had never heard. It was worth every penny for me.

Feel Like I Have an Understanding Now
Revisado: 02-21-23
I had not studied Jackson much but really enjoyed the book and learning about his life. Quite the man of principle and was willing to die for them.

Historia
What happens when the President of the United States governs one Tweet at a time? When the elected leader of the free world may not have a firm grasp on the names of government agencies, much less an understanding of their intricate inner-workings? In the days following the 2016 inauguration, government personnel searched for answers that didn’t exist, while White House staff scoured halls for employees who would never be appointed.

Interesting but Meandering
Revisado: 11-19-22
Started strong and then seemed to change directions. Seemed to be all about Trump’s inept and absent leadership but then turns into a book about different civil servants great work. Transition was confusing and the book ended very abruptly with no concluding idea.

Enlightening
Revisado: 12-03-21
Seems jealousy and personalities kept the US intelligence community from stopping the World Trade Center attacks. It was sad hearing how it could have been avoided. Seems the CIA bears the blame of holding onto information that could have stopped it. Very inter read.

Historia
In July 1881, Lt. A. W. Greely and his crew of 24 scientists and explorers were bound for the last region unmarked on global maps. Their goal: Farthest North. What would follow was one of the most extraordinary and terrible voyages ever made. Greely and his men confronted every possible challenge - vicious wolves, sub-zero temperatures, and months of total darkness - as they set about exploring one of the most remote, unrelenting environments on the planet. In May 1882, they broke the 300-year-old record, and returned to camp to eagerly await the resupply ship. Only nothing came.

Slow Start-Strong Finish
Revisado: 10-10-20
I had a hard time getting started on this book but after the story got into the expedition’s actual travels and daily life it really got good and was hard to put down. Excellent read.
