It’s awesome this and Magic Lessons are my hands down favorites of this series. Narration on this one is the best of the lot!

The other books in the series are outstanding. This will likely disapoint those who loved the movie

I bought is based on the reviews and I was so excited for what turned out to be an extremely disappointing book. It’s not a story. It’s like a prosecutor laying out a persuasive case. The narrator comes across a bit pushy. In short the book treats the reader like they are too stupid to formulate their own conclusion.

There are better books on the topic.

Emma Thompson! Jane Austen!

I loved it. Emma Thompson could read a grocery list and it would be great, and the combo of her and Jane Austen is perfection itself.

Seems a bit over reaching. Spoon feeds the story to the degree it’s a bit insulting. Seems to try and fit the circumstances to the writers theory rather than the facts dictating the story,

I love biographies but this is the rare one I am sorry I purchased. So gossipy and unkind and full of sensational fiction “Queen Alexandra had an incestuous interest in her sons” “Prince Eddie was Jack the Ripper because he hunted deer…. And more. No one should be allowed to write a biography if they don’t at least like the subject. The biography written in 1956 on Queen Mary is amusing and excellent based on diaries and letters not tabloid reports.

Disappointed in authors characterization of Mary Miles Minter

While I liked much of the book and I agree with the final assessment of who killed William Desmond Taylor, towards the end of the book the author is somewhat disappointing in his negative feedback of Mary Miles Minter. Repeatedly calling her fat and obese and weird. Shocking, a middle aged adult survivor of child sex abuse is overweight and a little weird. The girl was exploited from the time she was a small child. She deserves sympathy not censer.
