Historia
Peter Busch-McGinley is a self-employed handyman in Max City. For the last eight years, life has been a downward spiral that left him nothing to show for his pain. But that's about to change. Pete is approached by the patron deity of the Fertile Valley and Mineral Village—the self-described Harvest Goddess. She reveals his destiny as her chosen one, which obviously throws him for a loop. As shocking as that is, it isn't nearly as surprising as what his childhood friend, Queenie Luna, reveals to him.

Dream Team Strikes Again
Revisado: 01-17-25
When Annabelle and Virgil pair up, you know you're in for something good, and this is no exception.
The girls are all unique, with their own vivid personalities and quirks (I definitely picked a favorite around halfway through). I'm eagerly awaiting book 2 to see how things unfold with some of the girls who are lined up for more time in the spotlight.
The pacing is on point, and the stakes are high enough to keep the right level of tension, without overwhelming some of the cozier plot points.
Having the family aspect helps keep things grounded in a way you don't see too frequently in spicy books, and I found it very welcome.
I'll be grabbing book 2 as soon as it releases.

Historia
No one knows why it started, but the monster invasion all began right here, in Heathen Row. Ever since, men all over the world have been on the menu. And women have been at the frontlines, hunting the predators. But in a world where women are over-armed, over-paid, and under-satiated, Chris Hart isn’t staying safe inside while the monsters come out to feast. He’s living a double life, and doing his damndest to make sure no scientists, corporations, or hired monster hunters find out about the powers he gained the night he came to Heathen Row.

Well Written and Voiced
Revisado: 11-24-24
Starts with a unique (at least to my knowledge) premise for harem culture to exist. Also an interesting role reversal for woman not being immune to acting like sexist scumbags when they're occupying positions of power and men are scarce.
The voice actors do a solid job throughout. Written and paced well enough that I'll follow and keep an eye out for the series to continue.

Poorly Written & Oddly Narrated
Revisado: 09-13-24
Writing was like someone felt they had to use 'smart person' words, but their thesaurus only had about 50 words in it. Some words and phrases were repeated a ridiculous number of times. Everything is bustling, all words hang in the air, and each character is ever the something. Author needs someone to proof and edit.
Male narrator heavily over emotes, which when paired with the writing, means half the book is spent in a light-hearted, companionable chuckle that starts to quickly grate on the senses. A more direct read would have helped this one.
Female narrator was fine.

A Perfect Holiday Novel For The Radley Crew
Revisado: 08-06-24
This novel continues the trend of having better character and world building than erotica has any sensible right to.
The Radley team has to take over Christmas for a Santa who is MIA, while solving the mystery of his disappearance.
While the adventure unfolds with the usual comedy and spice, it continues the trend of strong action sequences, and multiple moments of genuine emotion that tug on the heartstrings, and at least once left me in tears. The author isn't afraid to tackle tough topics, and always knows what gear to hit to tackle them with sincerity and respect.
The meta-story of the household also progresses, but I won't touch on that, to completely avoid potential spoilers.
Voice acting continues to be a strong point for the series, with the characters being granted a distinct life of their own, owing to the talent of the dual narration. They've absolutely spoiled me for other large cast ensembles.
I'm eagerly awaiting book 7, and as always, keeping my eyes open for anything new from Annabelle.

Disjointed Tale of a Despicable Human
Revisado: 05-22-24
I'll first give credit where it's due and say the narrator delivered this well.
Unfortunately, the story itself hops around bafflingly between different times in the character's life. Only a few times does it stay in one place long enough to establish even a shadow of coherence.
The other main drawback is the main character herself. Every aspect of her is unlikable, but not even interestingly enough that you find yourself wanting to follow along to discover what happens next. You just want something awful to happen to her so she can stop crapping on everything around her and the book can be over.

When Dana was killed and resurrected by a necromancer, she didn't know what to expect. She didn't expect to be handed a list of magical items that might cure her if she can find them. She definitely didn't expect the house succubus to come along to service her dangerous needs. And she definitely didn't expect to go head to head with an international organization dedicated to keeping magic out of human hands.

A Solid Side Story
Revisado: 04-19-24
This fleshes out two (three?) of the characters that so far have seemed a little two dimensional. They're still not my favorite characters in the HM universe, but the story does work to bring them to life in a more thorough light. As usual from this team, the writing and performances are ridiculously top notch, especially for the spicy genre.

24/7 Demon Mart: Publisher's Pack features two books from the 24/7 Demon Mart series: The Graveyard Shift, book one, and Monster Burger, book two. It also includes the bonus Hell for the Holidays, a 24/7 Demon Mart Christmas special. Lloyd Wallace is the most clueless crossing guard the intersection of hell and earth has ever seen. So clueless, that he doesn't even realize the beer cave in the corner store where he works is the gateway to hell.

Juvenile Shouting?
Revisado: 04-17-24
This was recommended to me after reading John Dies At The End as another in the same 'zany supernatural' type of field. Unfortunately this one just doesn't do it for me, despite the rave reviews it gets from others. The author seems to write like a 15 year old boy who downed a whole bottle Ritalin. This is actually a match for the story's MC, so is perhaps intended. The narrator also matches this with a near constant and desperate, slightly high pitch shout to his voice. So, while this might have been all by design, it made it nearly unlistenable for me.

Average story, bad VA
Revisado: 01-07-24
I don't go into these with high expectations, but even for harem lit, the story is phoned in. Female VA is okay, but I've heard her give much better performances. Male VA is the most robotic I've heard to date, and caused me to just give up after about three hours.
