Historia
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, who in his perennial best seller On Killing revealed that most of us are not "natural born killers" - and who has spent decades training soldiers, police, and others who keep us secure to overcome the intrinsic human resistance to harming others and to use firearms responsibly when necessary - turns a laser focus on the threat posed to our society by violent video games.

Very Enlightening
Revisado: 05-02-19
When I first heard about Assassination Generation, I was skeptical. However, immediately after beginning the book, I knew it was going to be very “eye opening.” This book is presented very well and contains facts and the necessary documentation to support the idea that media, both TV and Video Games, are having a negative and dramatic effect on children.
I would, and have already, recommended this book to anyone who has young children, or deals with them on a daily basis (teachers, caregivers, etc.). I don’t have any children of my own, but I am an uncle to my brothers 2, soon to be 3, children and I can see how media (especially cellphones and tablets) take up so much of their young lives. At family gatherings, while all the older family members sit together and visit, all the young children can be found inside watching TV or playing video games. Something has to change, and I think this book gives the necessary insight on things to be aware of and ways to change.

Historia
Stephen Hawking not only unraveled some of the universe's greatest mysteries but also believed science plays a critical role in fixing problems here on Earth. Now, as we face immense challenges on our planet - including climate change, the threat of nuclear war, and the development of artificial intelligence - he turns his attention to the most urgent issues facing us. Will humanity survive? Should we colonize space? Does God exist? These are just a few of the questions Hawking addresses in this wide-ranging, passionately argued final book from one of the greatest minds in history.

Makes You Think
Revisado: 02-05-19
Overall, this was a great book/listen. Hawking digs deep into very thought-provoking questions and explains his responses in a very understandable manner. I’m not sure I agree with him on all of his ideas, but he does make you think about the “why” you feel the way you do on certain subjects. I especially liked the last several chapters on Artificial Intelligence - It has led me to learn more about AI and the possible challenges it could include.
My only negative on the book is that several ideas are repeated in subsequent chapters (not intentionally), but only because it serves as part of the answer to the question/idea he is discussing. Not a deal-breaker by any stretch - almost didn’t include this as part of my review.
I also enjoyed and appreciated the personal dedication from his daughter to close the book.
