Historia
There was no single, dramatic event that set the current financial crisis off. A whole series of very questionable decisions by many people, in many places, over a period of years, built up the pressures that led to a sudden collapse of the housing market and of financial institutions that began to fall like dominoes as a result of investing in securities based on housing prices. This book is designed to unravel the tangled threads of that story.

Excellent As Always
Revisado: 01-24-18
Thomas Sowell once again masterfully explains a seemingly complex topic easily and with great wisdom. Robertson Dean's performance was also enjoyable as always and he definitely does Powell's writings justice with his narration.

Historia
Blackwater is one of the most misunderstood companies of our time. As Erik Prince, its founder and former CEO, writes: "Hundreds of American citizens employed by private military contractors, or PMCs, would lose their lives helping our government wage wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, only to have their memory tarnished by the unfair and/or ignorant depiction of PMCs as profiteers, jackbooted thugs, or worse."

Very eye opening about the history and inner works of Blackwater. Know a lot more and have a lot more respect for them than I did.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Historia
On December 16, 1944, Hitler launched his "last gamble" in the snow-covered forests and gorges of the Ardennes in Belgium, believing he could split the Allies by driving all the way to Antwerp and forcing the Canadians and the British out of the war. Although his generals were doubtful of success, younger officers and NCOs were desperate to believe that their homes and families could be saved from the vengeful Red Army approaching from the east. Many were exultant at the prospect of striking back.

Historia
Intellectuals and Race is a radical book in the original sense - one that goes to the root of the problem. The role of intellectuals in racial strife is explored in an international context that puts the American experience in a wholly new light. The book explores the incentives, the visions, and the rationales that drive intellectuals at the highest levels to conclusions that have often turned out to be counterproductive and even disastrous, not only for particular racial or ethnic groups but for societies as a whole.

A Very Positive Look at the Future
Revisado: 04-21-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this to a friend who was feeling pessimistic about the future and needed a little pick me up to look at the better things to come.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Abundance?
Learning about how rare aluminum was just a couple hundred years ago in contrast to how "Abundant" it is today was somewhat of an eye opener.

I loved the content and enthusiasm the narrators injected into their lectures. Professor Guelzo and Professor Allit in particular were very engaged and passionate about the subject which made it so much easier to become passionate about American History myself. I highly recommend this course to those interested in American history or history in general.
