Historia
Born in Leipzig, Germany, into a Jewish family, Eddie Jaku was a teenager when his world was turned upside-down. On November 9, 1938, during the terrifying violence of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, Eddie was beaten by SS thugs, arrested, and sent to a concentration camp with thousands of other Jews across Germany. Every day of the next seven years of his life, Eddie faced unimaginable horrors in Buchenwald, Auschwitz, and finally on a forced death march during the Third Reich’s final days.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Great story of resilience
Revisado: 01-30-25
Great story. Very insightful and inspiring.
The negative… is way too much cussing.
Some of it was necessary for character development, but other parts of it were completely unnecessary.
The amount of cussing limits the ability to recommend it to all people or particularly younger people who would profit from listening to it.

Even the most experienced leaders seek outside help–they pray. Looking for help in their own leadership, entrepreneur Ryan Skoog, CEO Peter Greer, and executive advisor Cameron Doolittle set out to investigate how established leaders pray. In this book, the authors share the spiritual habits, techniques, and practices of world-changing leaders. In addition, they include prayers for leaders to use in their own prayer time as well as tools for how to cultivate a personal and organizational commitment to prayer.

More about Restaurants and less about leadership
Revisado: 10-22-23
Great story and very likable author. I look forward to eating at one of his restaurants in order to see these practices in play.
I started the book thinking this would give clear leadership principles that could be used in other ways. Definitely some seasoning of that but the thrust of the book is his restaurant story and how they became a great corporation.
The leadership principles were more gleaned and deeply taught. It’s still a good listen, but just know that you’re hearing more of the story of a restaurant company than distinct leadership teaching.
