I really liked the realistic use of levity in the serious material. there were real consequences for the characters and I came to really care about them.

Entertaining story / mismatched narrator

The story was simple but kept me engaged. unfortunately the narrator was not a good match for the material probably better suited to a western novel. It was a chore to listen to his take on the material. I might read this book in the future but I could not endure listening to it again.

The premise of winning the lottery before the zombie apocalypse and being able to bunker up with endless resources is pretty far fetched, but who hasn't had that dream? The narrator did a great job and the story was entertaining. It also reminds me of some military buddies. I will definitely be waiting for the next book.

Completely immersed in the story

The characters, story and performance are all great. I didn't want to stop and kept finding that I had been listening for hours. I am so attached to the characters that I had to stop at one point only because I was so affected and upset at the turn of events, only to start listening again because I could not wait to know what would happen next. what a great book.

This was much different than I'm used to reading but very engaging. If you want a semi silly story that gets you away from dreary and serious , this is for you. Really good narration.
