Very good
Revisado: 03-16-25
Extremely engaging, straight from the beginning. The narration has the "real life" feel and got my attention immediately.
The story is based on the Pied Piper children's tale with a twist.
Excellent twist at the end

But Paris’ mother Helen and I have to make a choice that will change all of our lives. Do we tell the truth, and risk losing our children forever? Or do we lie to keep them safe? We will do anything to protect our children, but one wrong move could cost us everything.

Took me a few chapters and then it kicked in
Revisado: 03-13-25
I enjoyed the first few chapters but wasnt totally invested but then it clicked and i couldn't stop listening.
From the beginning the characters were so engaging and that was part of the reason I kept going. The story was really good, and just got better and better.
There was the 'who actually did it' mystery, the suspense in 'wanting to know why' and the build up of 'how can it all fix itself'. Its one of those stories which makes you wonder what you'd do in the same situation.
Its an all-around good book

Historia
Born to an American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley was never truly understood...until now. Before her death in 2023, she'd been working on a raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir for years, recording countless hours of breathtakingly vulnerable tape, which has finally been revealed by her daughter, Riley Keough.

Highly recommend
Revisado: 01-26-25
Being an Elvis fan listening to this story was a must. Yes any extra information about Elvis is a bonus but what came out of this story was what a fierce mother Lisa Marie became as a result of being the daughter of Elvis.
There is nothing too shocking about this story. It's not overly glamorized, no "titillating" pieces of gossip. What it does feel is extremely real and authentic as a result of the conversational tone of Lisa Marie's writing
It gives you a sense of how inadequate and insignificant Lisa Marie felt from the day she lost her father and how that carried through for the rest of her life.
The love between Elvis and Lisa Marie is so intense. There is a sense that as much as they loved each other they both needed each other just as much. Lisa mentions in the book that the one thing in her life that she knew without a doubt was that her father loved her.
We all know how her story ends, but it's an extremely interesting read. Gives you a feeling that you would have loved to have known this woman, as much as we would have loved to have known Elvis.
Lisa Marie's life seemed defined by her father but what stands out in her story is what she passed onto her children, from her Dad being the "off the chart" level of love she had for them.

Even though I got slightly lost in some parts this really is a clever and very enjoyable story. The characters are all likeable, the plot is very exciting and I'd highly recommend giving it a go.

Quality story - very military based
Revisado: 01-03-25
I did enjoy this story and the first book in this new series. However being military based there were a lot of characters with rather intricate plot lines. This resulted in me getting slightly distracted and not properly following the story at times. Despite this, I kept going and ultimately enjoyed the book. But due to that military focus, I probably wouldn't resume the series.

Disappointed with this one
Revisado: 12-30-24
This is the first Lucinda Berry novel I did not enjoy. There was just something missing. I didn't find it. suspenseful nor did I find any of the characters memorable which didn't help with the flow of the story. Also I didn't enjoy the narration

Historia
Mead House was once our childhood home. Despite my fears, I always knew we would have to return to face the demons of our past. Back to the place where it happened, to where, as carefree teenagers, we lost our elder sister in the most brutal of circumstances. As executors of our grandmother’s will, my twin brother, Ollie, and I needed to empty the house for resale. What I didn’t expect to discover was my sister’s secret journal that contained her most private thoughts and shocking dark secrets.

Good story line but struggled with narration
Revisado: 12-23-24
I may have enjoyed this story more if it was narrated by somebody else. My preference in narration is a more upbeat expressive narration. I found the narration of this story bland and dull. I increase the speed but unfortunately that didn't help. However, if you do like the narrators style I would recommend this story as it is very good

But an innocent exploration of the empty ruin and the discovery of the diary of former resident Alice leaves her more than a little spooked. very good story. not something I would normally read, but after doing so glad I did. it is a real eye-opener on the parole system. It was really great to get the perspective of the actual prisoner going through the messed up system. I do recommend this audiobook

Revisado: 11-20-24
I love this series however, this particular book's storyline just didn't grip me. I didn't find it much of a thriller or a mystery. There was a crime but I didn't find it intriguing. I listen to the end but unfortunately cant give it more than 3 stars
