From the author of the USS Bull Shark Naval Thriller series comes a new companion series about WWII bravery, sacrifice, and adventure…
It's late summer on Guadalcanal, and the Japanese are getting deadlier and more aggressive by the day. Hemmed in and short on supplies, the US Marine Corps fights ferociously to maintain their tenuous hold on Henderson Field.
Major Al Decker, part of an elite unit known as the Marine Raiders, has put together a small crack team of battle-hardened men. Tasked with surveillance, hit and run attacks, and any other dirty job that’s required, it’s Decker’s Raiders that must venture out into the deadly tropical jungles and face down marauding Japanese soldiers around every corner.
When two marine flyers go down in heavily occupied Japanese territory, Decker and his men must split up and go out into the unknown to retrieve them. Deadly insects, crocodiles, and brutal tropical conditions hinder them and make them pay for every yard…and as the two teams dig deeper into enemy occupied territory, they begin to uncover signs of a massive attack by Japanese forces intent on crushing the American presence and retaking Guadalcanal.
Bullets fly, mortars thunder, and battles rage on the ground and in the skies above–can Decker’s Raiders find their men and get back to base before the mighty Imperial Army rolls over the Canal like a blood-red tsunami?

Thousands of miles from friendly ports, the US Navy had finally managed to complete the capture of Guadalcanal from the Japanese in early 1943. Now the Allies sought to keep the offensive momentum won at such a high cost. This is the central plotline running through this page-turning history beginning with the Japanese Operation I-Go and the American ambush of Admiral Yamamoto and continuing on to the Allied invasion of New Georgia, northwest of Guadalcanal in the middle of the Solomon Islands and the location of a major Japanese base.

Historia
On August 7, 1942, two events of major military importance occurred on separate sides of the planet. In the South Pacific, the United States went on the offensive, landing the First Marine Division at Guadalcanal. In England, 12 B-17 bombers of the new Eighth Air Force’s 97th Bombardment Group bombed the Rouen–Sotteville railroad marshalling yards in France. While the mission was small, the aerial struggle that began that day would ultimately cost the United States more men killed and wounded by the end of the war in Europe than the Marines would lose in the Pacific War.

Historia
It was the afternoon of 18 August 1966, hot, humid with grey monsoonal skies. D Company, 6RAR were four kilometres east of their Nui Dat base, on patrol in a rubber plantation not far from the abandoned village of Long Tan. A day after their base had suffered a mortar strike, they were looking for Viet Cong soldiers. Then—just when they were least expecting—they found them. Under withering fire, some Diggers perished, some were grievously wounded, the rest fought on, as they remained under sustained attack. For hours these men fought for their lives against the enemy onslaught.

Historia
Nicknamed "Mini-Man" for his diminutive stature, a mere five-foot-three and 125 pounds in his flight boots, chopper pilot Ron Alexander proved to be a giant in the eyes of the men he rescued from the jungles and paddies of Vietnam. With an unswerving concern for every American soldier trapped by enemy fire, and a fearlessness that became legendary, Ron Alexander earned enough official praise to become the second most decorated helicopter pilot of the Vietnam era. Yet, for Ron, the real reward came from plucking his fellow soldiers from harm's way, giving them another chance to get home alive.

Historia
When a soldier leaves for war, those left behind often wonder what their loved ones are experiencing. Letters home are always cheerful and vague - no sense in worrying the family. Then upon returning home, these young soldiers do not want to talk about their experiences. Family and friends allege they are now distant, changed, and not the same person they remember from several months earlier. What causes this? Although the backdrop for this novel is the Vietnam War, "cherries" exist in every war.

Growing up on a farm in Ohio, George always preferred being outdoors and exploring. This made school a challenge, but his hunting, fishing, and trapping skills helped put food on his family's table. As a poor teenager living in a rough area, he got into regular brawls, and he found holding down a job hard because of his wanderlust. After working out West with the CCC, he decided that joining the Marines offered him the opportunity for adventure plus three square meals a day; so he and his brother joined the Corps in 1941.

Eighteen-year-old Robert Weekes is a practitioner of empirical philosophy - an arcane, female-dominated branch of science used to summon the wind, shape clouds of smoke, heal the injured, and even fly. Though he dreams of fighting in the Great War as the first male in the elite US Sigilry Corps Rescue and Evacuation Service - a team of flying medics - Robert is resigned to mixing batches of philosophical chemicals and keeping the books for the family business in rural Montana, where his mother, a former soldier and vigilante, aids the locals.

Boom! Ooh-rah!
What an exciting ride. I did enjoy the fact that Senor Cook broke Bull Shark into 2 series. It makes each book a little smaller and a faster read. Once more, Dave Alexander does a great job and I can't wait for the next installment.

Great Story
I almost passed up this snack sized volume because it’s one credit and a 30 hour book is also one credit. But I had already read all the Bullshark and Jarvis adventures and was missing SWC’s writing and Dave’s narrations. It’s a great adventure just wish they were longer. It’s n to the next!

Pure Fiction
The fantastical storyline follows Marine Raiders as they cheerfully romp down the jungle trails of Guadalcanal, mowing down Japanese troops like ducks in a shooting gallery, while the Marines suffer only grazing wounds. While the story is entertaining from a purely fictional standpoint, it paints a picture of jungle combat so far from the sobering truth, that it's almost irreverent. Please keep this in mind if you decide to read it.
