Story
Connell and Marianne grew up in the same small town, but the similarities end there. At school, Connell is popular and well liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation - awkward but electrifying - something life changing begins. A year later, they’re both studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Marianne has found her feet in a new social world while Connell hangs at the sidelines, shy and uncertain. Throughout their years at university, Marianne and Connell circle one another.

Are you tired of feeling f*cked up? If you are, Gary John Bishop has the answer. In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

Are you looking for what is wrong in your life?

This book is awesome and the author does a great job narrating but the whole point of this book is that it cannot give you the answers. That is okay! This book tries to help you get your own answers and be honest with yourself. Being honest is always hard but especially hard when it involves reinventing who you are. I suggest giving it a try, what do you have to lose?

This book is phenomenally written and the reader/author reads it in such a personable way. I cried when I was listening because it rang so true. Johann gives you a way to reconnect with the world and actionable ways forward. Anxiety and depression are hard topics but since they affect so many people, it is important that we take the time and effort to have those difficult discussions. I hope you take the time to listen to this book if just to adjust your perspective of mental health issues.

This book makes you want to shake everyone you love and profess your love and remind them to live their lives to the fullest. The literary techniques were astounding and each character's voice was so unique. I think everyone will get something out of this novel. The beauty of the book is in the details and how you will be thinking about it for days afterward.

Story
Humans are tribal. We need to belong to groups. In many parts of the world, the group identities that matter most - the ones that people will kill and die for - are ethnic, religious, sectarian, or clan-based. But because America tends to see the world in terms of nation-states engaged in great ideological battles - capitalism vs. communism, democracy vs. authoritarianism, the "free world" vs. the "axis of evil" - we are often spectacularly blind to the power of tribal politics. Time and again this blindness has undermined American foreign policy.

This was incredibly intriguing theory of politics and what happened in the USA 2016 elections. It made me take a hard look at how I approach politics and why I may disagree with some party opinions. Well worth the time and Julia Whelan was fabulous as usual.

When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

This novel is amazingly touching and written with a clarity of thought which can only come from numerous revisions and polishing. Tara westover turned my world upside down time and time again as I lived through her tale. The topics she brings up like mental health, socioeconomic divides and religion are profound and I am sure everyone can find something to relate to in this novel. I highly suggest taking the time to read and contemplate this memoir. Tara, thank you so much for sharing your story.

Great finale to the saga
Reviewed: 03-27-18
The long earth series was extremely interesting and made a lot of philosophical and metaphysical points. The characters themeselves didn't seem to have grown with their character arcs but they just seemed to be a p.o.v. for the worlds. The generation and characterization of the worlds were fabulous. I think this was my favorite of the series.

Eating is an indispensable human activity. As a result, whether we realize it or not, the drive to obtain food has been a major catalyst across all of history, from prehistoric times to the present. Epicure Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin said it best: "Gastronomy governs the whole life of man."
