Story
All newly minted pediatrician Jamie Malek wants is to borrow a roasting pan for Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, that requires her to interact with Marc—her best friend’s troublemaking brother, who’s now a tech billionaire. He’s the one who got away. She’s the one who broke his heart. Outside, a howling blizzard. Inside, a crackling fire. Suddenly, being snowbound with the man she never expected to see again might not be such a bad way to spend a winter’s night.

Story
I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Blown away!
Reviewed: 02-10-24
I was not expecting to love this as much as I did! Is it messed up and dark at times? Absolutely. But do you also fall in love with these characters and see them become fully flushed out individuals with flaws and dreams and Cole of beauty? Also, yes. I will say as someone who is generally on the more squeamish side, this went right up to what I could handle, but I was still fine listening. Check those trigger warnings though, because they are not joking.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Wow. I’m struggling to write a review that won’t spoil things, but this book took me through a whole host of emotions. It was one of those where I had to set aside protected time to listen to the end because I loved it so much and didn’t want to miss a word. Highly recommend!

Good addition to the series. A little more gruesome than the series average but man, when Nora wants to write creepy/scary, you FEEL it! As always, the narration is top tier. Couldn’t imagine this series any other way than with these voices for the characters.

Story
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan.

Another great book from this author
Reviewed: 05-05-23
Really enjoyed this one, it had both laugh out loud and incredibly tragic moments, but you’re feeling things strongly the whole way through. I appreciated the research the author did into the medical field and the realism with a dash of fantasy that’s shown here - it is a romance after all! As with most contemporaries in recent years, this one does have a several instances where the characters had big emotional scenes because of miscommunication, which is not my favorite. That said, I felt that these were handled well as some of the themes of the book directly play into exploring why the characters react to certain things in the negative way they do. Excited to see what comes next in this series!

In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back. The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses.

Still so confusing but somehow I always enjoyed it?
Reviewed: 05-02-23
Nona is less confusing that book 2, but still leaves us with mostly questions. That said, I still greatly enjoyed the ride and laughed out loud and nearly cried in places throughout the story. Can’t give the audiobook narrator enough praise - they truly make the story come alive! Despite have such a complicated cast (all of whom go by what seems like 7 different names!), the narrator has such clear tone and speech patterns for each character that I never get them confused. Anxiously waiting for book 4 and hopefully finally some answers!!
****Spoilers below******
Honestly my biggest beef with this book is that really though we would be getting Gideon back, and you see nearly none of her in this book. She’s my favorite part of this whole world! I hope the author gives us that coffee shop AU she teased in book 2, because I just want more Gideon, no matter the plot!

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Sweet and fun
Reviewed: 01-12-23
This was a sweet and fun story. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I was a little confused after finishing as I didn’t feel it lived up to all the hype. That said, perhaps if I didn’t go into it with the expectation of “peak cozy fantasy,” I wouldn’t have come out with the overall impression of “it was nice” and nothing more.
