Story
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

Five Stars!
Reviewed: 06-23-24
I wish I could give this book more then 5 stars. It's dark and truly made me feel hopeless at times. But our main character is fearless and sees things most couldn't. The parallels to today are uncomfortable, but that shouldn't make anyone shy away from this fantastic book!

Story
Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

It was fine
Reviewed: 05-07-24
It was fine. I don't know what I was hoping for, but this didn't hit the spot. Some cons include long awkward pauses in the recording, and the use of the word "guys" several times when referring to women and enby's. The storyline felt a little flat, but the character growth was refreshing. The author has talent, and I image they will continue to grow if they keep at it.

Excellently written and performed
Reviewed: 02-17-24
I laughed, I cried. This is a very well written book. He is an amazing storyteller! All that said, I must admit, I lost a lot of respect for Sir Patrick Stewart after listening to this book. The way he completely jumped over the birth of his children, and how he spoke about the women in his life before his current wife, it was very disappointing. It left me feeling that he would be wonderful to work with, but not someone I'd want to be close to. (Which is fine, he doesn't want to be close friends with me either.) I'm giving this book the 5 stars it deserves, and I'm staying away from autobiographies for awhile.

Perfection!
Reviewed: 01-15-24
I didn't go into this with very high expectations. Every once in awhile I find myself wanting a "junk food" book, and that's usually romance for me. This book is absolute perfection! It's sweet, and doesn't follow the usual story arc, which is so boring. These women are sweet, funny, and are just out there living their best lives. I want to climb into this world of dirty talking grandmothers, supportive bosses, and charming children.

FANTASTIC!

This is an excellent book! I've been suggesting it to everyone before even finishing it. I tend to stay away from "self help" books. This is something completely different! The one glaring flaw I did notice was that the authors seemed to only write about heteronormative monogamous relationships. Outside of that, this book is absolutely perfect.

Story
Ida Burton used to be Hollywood’s sweetheart until the best roles started drying up in her 40s. When Ida lands one of the leads in a big-budget lesbian rom-com, it's not only a chance at reviving her dwindling career. Maybe this movie can be an opportunity to finally burst out of the closet she's forced herself into. Faye Fleming has been at the top of her acting game and collecting awards for the past few years. When she's cast in a huge blockbuster opposite the legendary Ida Burton, she's over the moon.

I thought this book might be too cheesy. Two movie stars falling in love, and all that. But it turned out to be just the right amount of cheese. Two older women, one who knows exactly who she is, but is scared, the other completely unaware of herself. It's very sweet!

Story
While people used to conceal the fact that they were gay or lesbian to protect themselves from stigma and discrimination, it is now commonplace for people to "come out" and encourage others to do so as well. Come Out, Come Out, Whoever You Are systematically examines how coming out has moved beyond gay and lesbian rights groups and how different groups wrestle with the politics of coming out in their efforts to resist stigma and enact social change. It shows how different experiences and disparate risks of disclosure shape these groups' collective strategies.

Story
When a banished witch falls in love with the legendary trickster Loki, she risks the wrath of the gods in this moving, subversive debut novel that reimagines Norse mythology. Angrboda’s story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.
