Rest In Peace, Anna, & Thank You
Reviewed: 03-10-24
Anna B. Thompson died on March 13, 2021 and the world is a more lonely place without her. I am so grateful that she and Kev Thompson have her legacy continue in these beautiful meditations. Kev continues to create more meditations himself. Check them out. For those who, like myself, don’t like to be jarred at the end of the meditation, Audible has a setting where you can end the chapter you are in at the end. So when you are in the meditation section be sure to set the Timer for “End of Chapter”. Enjoy these beautiful meditations. Peace!

What an amazing Audio Book. I am a skeptic, with attachment to my own belief systems. However, I put those aside and am glad I did. I highly recommend listening to this audio book when you have complete alone time. I need to be in silence now. Peace!

Story
Characterized by petty rivalries, self-indulgence and lack of responsibility, our actions fail to fulfill what Robert Bly describes as our true soul longing. With characteristic irreverence and storytelling from various cultures, Bly tells us what we should be doing about green-haired adolescents and idle elders, not to mention televisions and computers. His insightful focus illuminates the truths and possibilities of a culture caught in an adolescent phase of development.

This 1996 interview with Robert Bly and Michael Toms was fantastic. What an interesting mind Mr. Bly has. I appreciated his story telling too. Helped flesh out his ideas and opinions. Michael Toms was a great host. Highly recommend this talk especially now in 2023 given where we are at in the current culture. Especially may be helpful to the young people. Whether you lean Left or Right or somewhere in the Middle politically, etc., this talk may give you some insight to consider. Peace!

Story
In late 1913, Carl Jung set out on an exploration of his psyche, a quest he called his "confrontation with the unconscious". In doing so, he would enter an imaginative state of consciousness and experience visions, a process that continued with varying intensity for the next 10 years. Along the way, he began drafting the manuscript of his legendary Red Book. The Seven Sermons to the Dead, or "Septem Sermones ad Mortuos", is the only portion of the Red Book manuscript that Jung shared during his lifetime.

Completely Over My Head and Beyond Me

Great narration. However, Jung totally freaked me out with these “sermons.”. They made my essence sick. And I’ve done some years of Jungian work, as well as shadow work, etc. It seemed to me he was working out his own demons and trying to find his own light. That’s understandable given the split life he appeared to have lived. No doubt his work in psychology was to help him understand himself first and foremost. I’m grateful he shared his thoughts, discoveries and more with us. But, again, this sharing made me sick. Or rather I experienced sickness upon hearing it. Maybe after a few years I will revisit it again. Maybe not! I think more “NOT!”.

Not What I Was Looking For
Reviewed: 07-24-23
I usually appreciate Demetra’s work, but all I was looking for was how to understand the Balsamic Phase of the Lunation Cycle. I didn’t realize this was mainly ultra feminism and not much astrology. Oh, astrology and some mythology are weaved within it. Just not what I was hoping for. As a biological woman myself who has actually been harmed by some of what we face, I understand what Demetra is saying. However, as a human person, this belief that woman will fare better than men ruling the world doesn’t sit well with me either. They’re both human and both can be ruthless. I know from personal experience being on the receiving end. Also, at times, especially in the Her/Story part of the book, it sounds as if Demetra is speaking out of both sides of her mouth. It’s like there’s this rage that needs to be worked through. Again, as a woman, I totally get it. Anyone reading this may think I’ve never suffered as a woman. They would be completely 100% incorrect. What I’m saying is that we need balance. I don’t ever think we will have that in this place due to how we humans are. And I don’t really blame humans. I blame ourselves - our spirit or soul. Because I personally believe we are spirits inhabiting these human bodies. To blame it on humans, men or women takes away our responsibility. That’s just my opinion. And I could be incorrect. Wouldn’t be the first time.
