Too much romance for me.

This book is fine if you prefer a book that really is a romance novel. But if, like me, you like the romance to be secondary to the plot, then you may find this is just too fluffy.

I've read a few A. Lee Martinez, and this one did not disappoint. Lightweight and silly, they are definitely worth listening to if you like humor. There are better books out there that will really have you rolling on the floor laughing, with characters and a plot you can sink your teeth into. However, if you are out of those to read, Martinez will get you through until you find something better.

I read a lot of young adult, even though I am definitely not one anymore! But this story seemed like a teen romance novel to me, and not a very good one at that. The characters are terribly flat and predictable, and the dialogue!!!! Don't even get me started. NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT!!

The narrator was also gratingly typical in her reading. I did finish it as I was away from a wireless and had nothing else to listen to, but after about 1/4 of the book I kept thinking, "I should return this…"

I just LOVE this series! I'm a very picky chick lit reader as too often the stories are so sweet, unbelievable and predictable that I can't stand it. But these books… these books are FUN. The characters are fantastic, the writing crisp, the plots complex and hilarious. Kyra Davis shows how great chick lit can be.

Sickly sweet and completely predictable. I've read lots of this genre, and I know a lot of it is just romance books with a twist, but still. This book is definitely NOT worth the time to listen to… just awful.

I have listened to several books that feature the female protagonist disguised as a man, and this one was no different, although I was a little bemused at the gushingly romantic, storybook ending. I'm not sure if this is young-adult, but it seems to be, and fits that genre well. Whimsical, with highly likable characters, and an inventive plot, but nothing ground-breaking. And the narrator makes it an easy listen, too.

While not as gripping or engrossing as the first book, 'Cinder', this was still an enjoyable listen. Some of the characters introduced were less than believable, and there are so many characters and the story seen from so many perspectives that this book doesn't seem to have the depth of the first. But I am looking forward to seeing how the next installment develops!

This is another installment in this engrossing story... I thought it was the final of 3 books, but it's certainly not the end of the story, so I look forward to the next book? Trilogy? Still can't stand the narrator.

A great continuation of this series. The narrator is why it's a 4/5 - even after over 100 hours of listening over 5 books, she drives me bonkers. The story is worth it though.

It's rare to find books this long that are actually interesting the entire time. After so many hours of having the such rich, well developed characters around, I really missed them when the book was over! I'm not a big fantasy fan, but I found this series to be different and quite unique in some of the concepts used... although that is maybe a neophyte's opinion! The ending was somewhat unsatisfying, but the rest of the book was great. I was sad when it was over.
