Story
Forty years ago, following the appointment of their professors to the federal bench, a tiny group of conservative law students at Yale Law School worried that their ideas might disappear from intellectual discourse in this bastion of liberal thought. They set out to fill that void. But they ended up achieving way more than that. Over the next few decades, the Federalist Society became an integral tool in the larger conservative movement, with political, judicial, and social repercussions ending in the conservative capture of the Supreme Court and the election of Donald Trump to the presidency.

How to obtain true power in America
Reviewed: 11-08-23
This book outlines the way that real power is obtained in America. It is clarifying in the detail to which the people involved are responsible for decisions for who should be on the Supreme Court. It is sad that in today’s environment, so much money is infused in our political system.

Story
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as round-ups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

Great story and insight to the ease of creating killers

Great research. The book and it’s afterword defense of how people can be motivated to commit horrendous crime is both thorough and detailed.

Brilliant, listenable, and raw. Maj. (ret.) Danny Sjursen, who served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and later taught history at West Point, delivers a true epic and the perfect companion to Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States.

Modern and more deep view into American history.
Reviewed: 11-03-22
What I love most about this book is that it was so succinct and describing all the actions that many Americans are unaware of throughout our history. It brings to light the deviousness of government, even when we think we have the most open government ever. It is salient in the fortitude, it gives in how imperial we truly are even to this day.
