Story
Perla Wultz lives with her husband, Grant, and their precious daughter, Sophie, in a gated Pasadena community. Affluent, sociable, and accomplished, Perla plays the part of loving wife and mother to perfection. It seems an ideal life, if not for a decades-old crime that has become Perla’s dark and consuming secret obsession. Twenty-three years ago, Leewood Folcrum confessed to murdering two young girls during a birthday party. Though he’s been condemned to a life sentence, his crime is not forgotten.

This book was a riot. The main character was super entertaining and I didn’t see the twists coming. The characters were well written and the pace was fast and frantic. Absolutely loved it!

Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

Had me hooked from the beginning.
Each time I was sure what was going on, there’d be another twist or another angle that I didn’t see coming. This was so so clever!
I’m going to need to listen again now that I know how it turned out, I’m sure I missed some clues!
This was just a super enjoyable, fast paced thriller. Read it! Read it now!

You probably already know my name. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend. Even though they couldn’t find enough evidence to charge me, I know you all think I did it. That’s OK. I realise being found wandering the streets the next day covered in her blood wasn't a great look. Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it? And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out.

Loved the pace of this book. It kept me interested from the first chapter and I was up nights listening to it. I loved how it kept me guessing as to who did it. I definitely didn’t see the end coming at all!! Lots of great twists and I loved Lucy’s dark sense of humour throughout! Highly recommend this book.

Wow, so ouch I didn’t know about Matthew Perry

I’m so glad I ignored some of the media talking about how he disses Keanu Reeves. That was a beat up and clearly he was trying to be funny with that line..
In any case Matthew shares his struggles with addiction candidly and I love his honesty around not knowing why.
He doesn’t paint himself in a perfect victim light, in fact there’s times where his choices or actions aren’t likeable at all but through it shows the struggles of a real human being.
Great read.

I love how we still see the characters we live from the first book entwined in the second book it told from a different characters view point. I'm hoping the rest of the books are also like this & we can get to know each of the characters that provide such a compelling story.

First of all condolences for the loss of your husband Taya. Continuing to breathe each day is difficult after the loss of someone you love let alone to move forward to help others.
This audiobook touched me not only through the honest commentary on her own story but also hearing the emotion in Taya's voice when she recalled loving & losing her husband & the trials & tribulations of surviving this, raising children & all in public view.
I enjoyed Taya's views in the sections in American Sniper so was great to hear her voice again relaying events & emotions from her own perspective
Wonderfully touching, I'm sure everyone will take something away from this book.
