Story
When Angela met Jason Powell while catering a dinner party in East Hampton, she assumed their romance would be a short-lived fling, like so many relationships between locals and summer visitors. To her surprise, Jason, a brilliant economics professor at NYU, had other plans, and they married the following summer. For Angela, the marriage turned out to be a chance to reboot her life. She and her son were finally able to move out of her mother's home to Manhattan, where no one knew about her tragic past.

This was an absolute shocker. So many twists and turns to the plot. I was getting excited that Jason would be exonerated and then...wait for it! The book ended. Yep. Just like that! S N A P!!!

WHAT????
Reviewed: 12-22-18
This book had me from the beginning. I listened late into the night waiting for a lull in the plot to turn it off. It kept me interested throughout and when I noticed that there was just a little over an hour left to this listen, I thought, “hmm, this will be a fast paced ending “. Boy was I ever wrong. The book did not end, it just stopped! WHAT????

Great Listen

This was a nicely intertwined plot. There were instances where I audibly laughed at a character’s comment in a well defined situation. That was needed in a book where the characters became more intense with each chapter. Never saw ‘the who done it ‘ coming!

I don't know why but this book felt almost personal to me. Grace was a wonderfully constructed character who was appropriately named. Love. Kindness. Forgiveness. Jealousy. Selfishness. Selflessness. These traits were all portrayed in the make-up of the characters. This is a very nice read/listen.

This was a good listen for my husband and me as we drove from Mississippi to Arizona. It kept our interest and gave us a few points of levity. The characters were believable and the plot was good even though my husband said he figured out the plan somewhere around chapter 55. We still listened to the end and shared opinions when finished. We still have about 3 hours left to drive. Let's check the library!

I like P. Cornwell's books. This one started slow for me but soon caught me. I did get lost a few times in some of the transitioning and had to listen again to gather myself.

The narrator was really whiny and almost aggravating. This made focus on the story line, which was already weak, hard to maintain. I almost didn't finish this listen.
