Story
The vicious decapitation of Stanley Preston, a wealthy, socially ambitious plantation owner, at Bloody Bridge draws Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, into a macabre and increasingly perilous investigation. The discovery near the body of an aged lead coffin strap bearing the inscription King Charles, 1648 suggests a link between this killing and the beheading of the deposed seventeenth-century Stuart monarch.

While Harris is no Anne Perry..She is fun and interesting in her writing. Also enjoy the factual historical info mixed within.
And as usual Devina Porter does a marvelous reading.

Rampton Farm, Northumberland, has always been a gloomy, godforsaken place. Now it’s earmarked for demolition—to make way for just another tawdry amusement park. It will be progress, and nothing can stand in the way—except perhaps Arnold Landon, the Planning Officer who must glean the lie of the land.

Story was decent; if bit drawn out, too much here and there.
Seemed like author was searching for too much and lacked in finding the core of the main character until the end.?
Might have been better served with some introspection, and few re-writes. Promising overall.

Story came across as a bit forced. As if it was a struggle to put together. In an otherwise really good series, this one disappointed. Even the otherwise great narrator seemed to over-do , as if she also was not into it.
