Story
What could be simpler? On my very first day in this world, I was given the title of a count along with all the trimmings: a castle, name, lands and power. You'd think I had it made, but no . . . They seized my castle, took my lands, and now, I'm surrounded by enemies. Moreover, it's nothing but one headache after another with the authorities. And even though I wrested my castle back, the neighbors aren't going anywhere, and they live and breathe to tear off chunks of my land, and eliminate me, the new head of the family.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I will be recommending this book/audiobook to friend and family. Its a great story it made me laugh and cry. I love books that I can lose my self inn and I did with this one. I just wish the next book was out in english already. The first one ends with a major cliffhanger and I so want the next one.
What other book might you compare Samantha Watkins, Book 1 to and why?
I don't know. I don't think the story line compares for me. But the joy I felt while reading it I would put at the top of my list. So I hope the next books come soon or at least news of when we will be getting it. The cliffhanger is going to drive me crazy.
What does Amy McFadden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like hearing the attitudes or the characters. I think Amy McFadden does a great job. I lessened to three other books of hers and she always does a great job.

While her parents are off having adventures and being Very Important People, she's struggled simply to find a place where she belongs. One night, she investigates a disturbance in her home and discovers an armor-clad man sorting through her belongings. Her first thought is for her parents' safety, not to question why this man is in her home late at night without even the courtesy of knocking.

I didn't like it.

Would you try another book from Lucy Varna and/or Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ?
I don't know if I will try another Lucy Varna book. I like to think I would only because with authors I love some of there books I feel are not up to their standard and my be this is not one of her greats. The Narrators can only work with what they have and I was very unhappy with this book so I think it changes how I feel about the Narrators at the time of hearing it. So I for sure will get a book if I want it even if one of them is the narrator.
What could Lucy Varna have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
She could make up her mind. If the main character is strong and smart go with it. If she is week and sweet go with it.
What didn’t you like about Angel Clark and Matthew Josdal ’s performance?
The switch at chapters is cool in some ways and distracting some times.
What character would you cut from The Choosing?
I couldn't stand the main character.

What disappointed you about Jason?
I have read all the books in this series and I don't know about any one else who reads them. But I miss the store. Laurell K. Hamilton can write when she wants. But the last books there is less and less story. Now don't get me wrong I love smut but I love it in my drama, mystery, action now this book my have action but Im talking the kind with clothes on. You can see it when you look at the length of the books to. I would love for the next book to be a really Anita Blake novel. You know the kind were she wasn't a sheltered little piece of fluff, and could take care of her self.
Has Jason turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes, and no I'll read the next one but If its only the smut with no story to it will be the last. I can get smut cheeper than I payed for this. Its the whole story Im after.
What about Kimberly Alexis’s performance did you like?
She was great. Even with the story reading like an after school special for lesbians. Like I said I love smut but in with the story.
What character would you cut from Jason?
I like that there are lots of characters in these books. So I wouldn't want to cut any one. But I would love to get back to basics. You know the main character from the first books. That would be awesome.
Any additional comments?
I miss Anita Blake's awesomeness. She needs to learn she can be the real her too. Not just some one that spreads her legs the whole time.

Can't wait to see if Audible gets book two!
Reviewed: 07-04-14
Would you consider the audio edition of King Hall to be better than the print version?
I don't know I didn't read the printed version of this book. But I can say I'm the very tempted to go on and read the second book. But I like to stick with what I start with. So Im going to wait and see if Audible gets it. If not soon through it will be on. Because I want to know what happens right now.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like all of them but Ezra and Lily have a vibe that just makes me smile.
Which character – as performed by Chandra Skyye – was your favorite?
I think she was awesome. There was no one character that was performed better than the others. To me any way and thats how I like it. It breaks character for me in my little play that goes on in my head if some are better than others. I will be looking for more performed by her.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Oh man! I cried the kind that had to get the tissue box kind. Then laughed, got mad, I think I went through a roller coster and loved it the whole time.
Any additional comments?
I have been a member of Audible for a couple of years now and have hear a lot of books that I have really liked. But this is the first that I have liked enough to leave a review for.
